Well, I've grown up a little, or let's just say I'm beginning to phase out parts of my home theater system. It's first starting out with the subwoofer. My Velodyne CT-120 has served me nicely for a while, but I want to move up to the true audiophile big leagues as some people I know say. One brand I've been fascinated with for a long time was M&K. I was exposed to their speakers at a young age, and today I figure it'd be nice to own some. It's a shame they don't make magneplanar speakers which out-do cone speakers... But subs are different, they are all cone-driven, and M&K has been making some of the best cones for ages. My cousin has an M&K, and I loved sitting with it right behind me. Well, now my quest had started out, and so I found the M&K V-75 MKII.

-Price-
*The M&K V-75 MKII is considerably cheaper than many of the other M&K subwoofers on the market. It's very similar to the more popular V-125 subwoofer. The difference is the amplifiers which the M&K V-75 MKII has 75 watts while the latter has 50 more coming out at 125 watts. The M&K V-75 MKII coests $600 at ABT electronics. Not a bad deal for a 12" subwoofer... But considering it's M&K, that makes it all the better. While there are other brands out there that have 12" and even 15" subwoofers that are cheaper and more powerful than the M&K V-75 MKII, they sound less accurate and have a much cheaper quality driver. 75 watts should be ample for most users. People I know with subs that get up to 125 watts or so usually crank up their subs less than half-way. So don't be fooled by the low-wattage rating, this thing will pound like any other 12". If you're into anything but rap that needs delicate and accurate bass, then the M&K V-75 MKII is an excellent choice. The M&K V-75 MKII should make you one happy listener and add a lot of boom to your home theater. If you compare it to brands such as Cerwin-Vega!, Pinnacle, Velodyne (Mostly), etc... You find that the M&K V-75 MKII is overall a better-built and better sounding sub. It's worth every penny. Also, if you're into metal grilles, the M&K V-76 MKII offers one, that is the only difference between that and the 75.

-Sound Quality-
*The M&K V-75 MKII produces very fine bass. At first, I didn't think that the 75 watts RMS would be sufficient to provide me with that powerful bass that everyone craves from a large speaker system. However it blew me away, all thanks to the large 12" long-throw driver. The M&K V-75 MKII like the other M&K subs has a 20Hz-200Hz operating range, it shouldn't have any problems hitting the very low bass notes. Unlike a lot of other subs that I've seen and heard on the market, none sound as clean and accurate as the M&K V-75 MKII. For the price, you get a whole lot of sound from it. So, what kind of people should be using this subwoofer? Well, if you're into classical music, rock music, or just about anything else, this should definitely suffice your needs. If you're into ghetto rap, you might want to try a cheaper subwoofer with significantly higher wattage. However, except distortion with the cheaper stuff. If you're looking for more wattage, go with the M&K V-125.

-The Verdict-
*Without any doubt, the M&K V-75 MKII is an excellent performer. M&K has been providing amazing quality speakers for ages, and the M&K V-75 MKII is proof that this great tradition continues to go on. If you're willing to spend a few hundred on an amazing sub, the M&K V-75 MKII is a great choice. It provides cleaner and more accurate bass than its competition. If you're looking for something much boomier, you can go for a cheaper subwoofer with a lot more wattage. If you want more wattage and still want to retain exceptional quality, look into the M&K V-125. However, the M&K V-75 MKII does what its supposed to do. It's an M&K... What else would you expect?
