Drilling Engineer

Our client, a major oil and gas (E&P) company, is expanding their current workforce and looking for Drilling Engineers.

As a Drilling Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of well design, construction, and operations support. Your functions include cost estimation, development of casing and directional design, formulation of performance improvement processes, and program development. You will also be highly involved in the day to day coordination of all well site activities on the drilling rigs, ensuring that everything meets the Company's policies and projections within the limits of environmental protection and occupational health policies.

To perform in this role, you must be able to:

• Come up with high quality project plans that include cost estimates and time schedules.
• Develop plans for drilling wells which include overpressure, deviated, and horizontal wells, plus SAGD application.
• Formulate well design and trajectories while working with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling contractors.
• Perform anti-collision and hydraulic calculations and develop torque drag simulations.
• Prepare all drilling and completion programs while working with reservoir engineers and well service contractors.
• Review and perform quality checks on all reports produced and received from the drilling rigs.
• Continuously identify areas in operations that can be optimized.
• Ensure that drilling projects are aligned with corporate Total Loss Management policies.
• Ensure integration of team members into the development and execution of drilling projects.
• Identify and implement new technologies that can maximize operations.
• Provide relevant support to Well Site Engineers in their daily work and training process.

To be considered, you must have:

• A BS degree in Petroleum Engineering or any related field (M.Sc. or PhD a plus, but not required).
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Drilling Engineer.
• A proven track record of accomplishments in a recognized Company.
• Experience with deep, high pressure, hot hole, and tight gas sand onshore drilling operations.
• Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• Must be highly knowledgeable in Health, Safety and Environment, including emergency and oil spill response.
• Well developed project management skills.
• Good business acumen.
