*Mariano Elmer V. Bongalon, Jr. graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts in 1967.  He has won several national art competitions and has had several one-man shows and group exhibits (in the Philippines, in Mardrid and New York).  He is renowned as a portrait artist, who “paints from life”, having captured on canvass some of Philippines society’s elite, like the Cojuancos, Baby Araneta Fores, Cristina Ponce-Enrile, the Revillas, Vicky Zubiri, etc.; corporate and government executives; and recently the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas candidates and movie actress Karylle.
