DESCRIPTION

This is a prime telephoto lens. The brand is Tele-Astranar. This lens might have been made by Tamron according to some photography experts. It is multi-coated with TC coats. It has a fixed focal length of 400mm with a maximum aperture of f6.3. It has a built-in tripod collar in excellent condition.  Its mount is the T-mount screw type (This is different from the M42 screw mount. M42 has 42x1" thread pitch while the T-mount has only 0.75" thread pitch). This mount can be used with other camera mount with the use of the proper mount adapter. It is excellent for digital cameras with APSC sensors since the magnification increases to 1.5x without losing any f-stop; that would be equivalent to 600mm. I used this with my Olympus E-1 digital camera and it works quite beautifully. With the 4/3rd sensor, the 400mm turns into 800mm without losing any f-stop. The cosmetic part is Mint-minus and so is the glass of the lens. No fungus, no spots nor marks, no scratches. A must have for the would-be-paparazzi!!!

I still have the T-mount to Olympus 4/3 mount adapter for this lens in case you are interested.

SAMPLE PICTURE

See the sample picture provided. Notice the subtle and beautiful color shades it produces. The delicate shades of blue (light to heavy) on the top part of the image is noteworthy. The contrast, sharpness, and color is right on the mark! The picture was taken with this lens using an Olympus E-1 with all settings set to 0 (contrast, sharpness, saturation). The image was post processed using Photoshop Elements by using its one-click "auto enhance" button. And this image is the result. It is a simple as that. The lens is very good.
