What is Ultrafiltration?
Ultrafiltration(UF), is a pressure-driven barrier to suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens to produce water with very high purity and low silt density. UF membranes typically have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 - 0.10 µm and have a high removal capability for bacteria, cysts, amoeba and most viruses, colloids and silt (SDI). The smaller the nominal pore size, the higher the removal capability.
Unlike most filtration, the sieve does not fill up with trapped material because the colloids are too large to fit into the opening of the sieve. A good analogy would be dumping a mixture of water and marbles (the colloids) over a window screen (the membrane). Most of the water would pass through the screen. The remaining water would help wash the marbles off the screen and would be sent to waste with the marbles. The screen would not become plugged because the marbles are too large to fit into the openings.

When do I use an Ultrafiltration system for water treatment?
Ultrafiltration is a complimentary process to reverse osmosis where dissolved salts are not removed from water, which means there is no change in the chemical composition of the product water from an Ultrafiltration system. Large molecular weight organics (1000 daltons- 100,000 daltons) bacteria, colloids, viruses and other substances are removed from the water. This produces sparkling clear safe water.
Does the IMT 7Bore UF element REMOVE micro-organisms from the water? Most water purifiers either kill or inactivate micro-organisms present in the water by using chemicals or Ultra Violet radiation. IMT 7Bore UF Element filter disease causing micro-organisms including their floating dead bodies, cysts and spores from your drinking water by physically filtering them out through a membrane.
Does it remove turbidity from the water? Water supply during rainy season is very turbid and water borne diseases are at its peak during these times. IMT 7 Bore UF Element is the only method for removing turbidity from the water. No other water purifying technology can boast of it.
Does it remove colloids from the water? Colloids, which lead to dental problems, can be removed only by membrane. IMT 7 Bore UF Element is a membrane based water purifier.
Does IMT 7 Bore UF Element reduce/eliminate calcium/mineral buildup in residential piping & fixtures? The IMT 7 Bore UF Element will not remove the dissolved minerals in the water. But it may help reduce the amount of buildup by blocking the small particles of dirt that act as ‘seeds’ around which minerals tend to build up on it.

Does it include delivery?
No, you have to give me your complete address so that I can inquire from the courier (LBC, JRS, 2Go, DHL) on how much they will charge you. Expense will be of the buyers account. Or you can opt to pick it up at my address. For those in the province, if you have friends or relatives that are living in Metro Manila, you can ask them to meet with me.
How long will delivery take?
If you pay in cash I could make arrangements immediately with courier to deliver it to you. Usually it is door to door next day delivery. If you pay using cheque in Metro Manila we will wait for 3 days to clear. If regional cheques at least 6 days for clearing.

The cost of the IMT 7Bore does not come with any accessories. What you see is what you get. The faucets in the pictures/diagram are for illustration purposes only, so that the buyer will know how to properly install the unit.
Do you do installation?
Sorry, I do not do installation. For this you have to look for a plumber. If you are more of a “do it yourself” person you can easily install it by yourself.
Where can I find the accessories like faucet, Teflon, pipings, hoses, etc?
At your nearest hardware store. If you are near Wilcon, Home Depot, SM Hardware, Ace Hardware they more or less can help you in what you need, plus there are more items to choose from.
The IMT 7Bore is not aesthetically pleasing, isn't it?
True, we cannot have it all. Yes, we can garnish this will lots of colorful sticker and put stainless steel housing plus lots of gadgets like timer and solenoid valve, but this will cost around 30-60 thousand pesos!!! Not all of us can shell out that kind of amount. I believe in making this filter available to all household, the majority of Filipinos at a reasonable price with excellent value. Preventing water borne disease from drinking water is my main concern.
What model is the IMT 7Bore available that you are selling here?
Currently the model available is 260UF/MB, which is capable of producing 8liters of water at 35psi. We can import other models if the need arises. Just specify how many liters per minute do you need, where will you be using it, what industry is it going to be used, what kind of water is to be filtered. Prices will be adjusted accordingly.

What is the micron rating of the IMT 7Bore UF?
IMT 7Bore is 0.01 micron, which is capable of removing virus(smallest), bacteria, algae, parasites, colloids from the water. (To give you a much more clear idea of what 0.01 microns is all about: picture this, the diameter of a human hair is approximately around less than 100microns,you divide/cut the diameter of the hair equally by 1000x !!!!) That is small indeed!
What is the limitation of IMT 7Bore UF?
The IMT 7Bore UF is designed to remove floating particles in the water (virus, bacteria, algae, parasites, colloids), if your water contains dissolved contaminants like pesticides, chlorine, etc., the IMT 7Bore cannot remove it. Other filters are designed and more suited for those purposes.
Who can use IMT 7Bore UF?
Any one who needs water that is free from virus, bacteria, algae, parasites, colloids. Be it household, commercial or industrial, when you need to remove those mentioned above, you can use IMT 7Bore UF.
Do I need a pre-filter before the IMT 7Bore UF?
If your water does not contain very large particles of sand, you don’t need it. Or much better a simple screen filter (<300 microns) or a more expensive sediment filter from 30-50 microns will do. This is used so that sand will not block the pores which can destroy your filter.
Do I need to change filter?
Other filters like carbon filter and sediment filter you need to change it regularly to prevent buildup of silt and bacterial contaminants that may change the taste of the water.
When the IMT 7Bore UF is used and maintained properly, it can last several years without replacement.
How many liters of clean drinking water does the IMT 7Bore produce?
For model 260UF/MB with overhead tank pressure you can have 4liters/min. When pressure is at 35 psi you get 8liters/min.
Can the IMT 7Bore function even during blackout/power outages?
Yes, the IMT 7Bore can function even without electricity. You can have clean drinking water even with just overhead tank pressure or in-line water pipe pressure.
How do I take care of the IMT 7Bore UF?
Do at least minimum of 2x a day forward flushing(more frequently, the better). Do at least 2x a month backwash(optional, if you have equipment), 2x a month disinfection. Do not exceed 35psi.
What will happen if you exceed 35psi?
The manufacturer clearly states not to exceed 35psi. Exceeding the 35psi by 5psi, nothing will go wrong with the IMT 7Bore fiber as long as it is not done frequently. It can withstand it but if you do it very often and exceed 40psi there is a high probability that some fibers will burst, and when fibers do burst there is a very high likelihood that water will not be safe for drinking and you have to replace the filter. Given that people have a very big tendency to maximize the product, let’s be safe and not exceed the manufacturers recommendation of 35psi.
What is glycerin?
Glycerin is a clear, odorless, tasteless, thick liquid obtained by distillation of fats. It has a great power of absorbing water. Here at IMT it is used to preserve the filter. It is non toxic as it is also an ingtedient used as lotion for our skin.
Do I need a pressure gauge before the IMT 7Bore UF?
It is much better if you install a pressure gauge before the IMT 7Bore UF so that you will know the existing water pressure prior to entering the filter and for you to be able to adjust the pressure accordingly(Remember: manufacturer states not to exceed 35psi) to prevent damage to the filter.
Can the IMT 7Bore UF be used as replacement for Ultraviolet Light?
Yes, the IMT 7Bore can easily replace the UV light as final filtration before dispensing water. UV lamp allow floating dead bodies of bacteria, virus, algae, parasites to pass thru. Unlike the IMT 7bore, because it blocks the floating contaminants from entering the dispensing area, you are assured that it is trully clean drinking water that you will be drinking. This is also an advantage because it does not require energy(can function even during black-outs) to remove bacteria and does not have electrical components like ballast/uv lamp that will get busted or needs constant replacement.
Can the IMT 7Bore UF be used as pre-filter for reverse osmosis filter?
Yes. When you use IMT 7Bore before the reverse osmosis filter, the r.o. will last much longer in between cleaning because most of the floating contaminants are removed by the IMT 7Bore UF.
Do I need to put carbon filter before or after the IMT 7Bore UF?
Carbon filter is generally used to remove odor from the water and to improve the taste of our water. I would suggest that you put the carbon filter before the IMT 7Bore. Also it is generally suggested that the carbon filter should be replaced regularly (quarterly) as bacteria and silt will fill it and cause the water to taste bad.
Why do I need to disinfect the IMT 7Bore UF? I thought it can remove bacteria in the water?
Yes, the IMT can remove bacteria from the water provided that the bacterial contamination comes from the raw water and passes thru the filter. Contamination also can occur from the clean side where germs travel back to the filter and colonize it. To prevent this from occurring twice a month disinfection is recommended.
What kind of disinfectant should I use?
The easiest, most widely available and safest (when used properly) is household bleach. Just dilute the liquid bleach (100mg/liter as active chlorine) and pour it inside the clean side and let it stay for about 30 minutes. Then install it and flush it for about 10 minutes to remove the odor.
What are the chemicals that can be used for cleaning and disinfection of the IMT 7Bore?

For your safety and the safety of others: These chemicals are VERY DANGEROUS (corrossive to skin, toxic fumes could burn eyes and lungs, and may also explode) if not used properly. Always wear safety gear (mask, goggles, gloves) when handling chemicals. Use chemicals in well ventilated areas. Always wash your hands after handling. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!
Could I damage the filter using liquid bleach?
The 7Bore fiber are made of POLYETHERSULFONE which has a high resistance against cleaning chemicals, such as acids, bases or oxidation agents, e.g. hydrogen peroxide and active chlorine.
Always follow manufacturer recommendation regarding concentration, otherwise damage will be done.
Could I use the IMT 7Bore for water station or commercial purposes?
Yes, you can use the IMT 7Bore UF for your water station as pre-filter for reverse osmosis and/or as replacement for ultraviolet light.
How many IMT 7Bore should I use for water station? Why?
It depends on how much product water do you need and how fast do you want to refill. You should use multiple IMT 7Bore UF (eg. 6 units IMT 7Bore UF at 35 psi could produce 48 liters/minute). Since you will be using it for commercial purposes, volume and speed is important. A few units will take you a long time to fill a 5gallon container, plus you should flush it more often. More units means faster refilling time and longer flushing interval(Less waiting time and less water wasted due to constant flushing).
Can the IMT 7Bore save you money?
Yes, purchasing the IMT 7Bore UF can save you money in the long run. You have a filter that with proper use and maintenance does not need much replacement and also you don’t need to buy expensive water. Plus the satisfaction of knowing that you are drinking clean and safe water.
Do I need to boil water when there is a water borne disease outbreak in my area?
When you have installed the IMT 7Bore properly you don’t need to boil water. Water that comes out from the 7Bore filter is safe to drink and free from floating contaminants that causes disease.
