Philippine School for Maritime and Medical Access Inc. ( formerly VAA SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND MARITIME TRAINING CENTER, INC. )a Marina accredited maritime training school, is glad to offer our shipboard training program and OJT in Boracay for your maritime and HRM students onboard various domestic vessels like ro-ro passenger, cargo, bulk, container and tanker and in Triple A hotels and resorts in the Island of Boracay.
As part of our program to uplift the standard of our future seafarers and hotel workers and upgrade their knowledge in shipboard and hotel operation and as part of the manning agencies’ cadetship program, we are pleased to offer the two (2) months Shipboard Training, two (2) months or 500 hours On-Job-Training in Boracay,and one (1) year Apprenticeship program. These courses are ideal for students enrolled or had taken up courses on Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, One (1) year Seaman’s Rating Course and BS Hotel and Restaurant Management.
This program will serve as a preparation for jobs on board International Luxury liners or international hotels worldwide. This type of training exposes students to actual work on board passenger vessels or in various hotels in boracay which brings them to the reality of embarking a life on board a ship or working in a hotel passing international standards. This is a rewarding job once they acquire proper training and sea experience.
Here is the breakdown of our offered training courses:

Students who have undergone our OJT programs will be given an equivalent Sea-Service Certificate properly recorded in the seaman book, indicating a domestic vessel experience. Otherwise, a certificate of completion will be given to HRM students who successfully finish this program. The trainees will have a better chance of being hired onboard international cruise liner, luxury ships as well as in international hotels.

Program Schedule: Two (2) months OJT for SRC Students
Day 1 – Departure in School
Day 2 – Arrival in PSMMA ( preferably morning )
0700H to 0800H – Terminal Pick-up by PSMMA
0800H to 0930H – Arrival in PSMMA
0930H to 1130H – Rest and Snack Break (Snacks will be provided by PSMMA)
1130H to 1230H - Lunch Break (Lunch will be shouldered by the students)
1230H to 1330H - Break time (preparation for Crowd and Crisis Training
1330H to 1700H - Crowd and Crisis Management Training Course
1700H to 1800H - Break time / Medical Examination
1800H to 1900H - Dinner Time (Dinner will be shouldered by the students
1900H onwards - Sleeping time
Day 3 – Continuation of Crowd and Crowd Crisis Training and Start of OJT
0600H to 0700H - Wake up time
0700H to 0800H - Breakfast (Shouldered by PSMMA)
0800H to 1200H - Continuation of Crowd and Crisis Management Training
1200H to 1300H - Lunch break
1300H to 1500H - Continuation of Medical Examination
1500H to 1600H - Break time / Briefing, PDOS
1600H to 1700H - Dinner time (Dinner will be shouldered by the students)
1700H to 1800H - Departure in PSMMA
1800H to 1900H - Arrival to Pier
1900H to 2100H - Departure to Pier (Start of Shipboard Training)
Important Details:
* Accommodation provided by PSMMA free of charge!
* Transportation shouldered by PSMMA
* Meals will be shouldered by the students (P200.00/head/2days)
* Bring black pants and extra white polo shirt
* Bring 8pcs. 2X2 picture
* Seaman's book should be in possession at all times
* All Sea-service certificates will be forwarded to the school
* PSMMA has the right to refuse embarkation as per company policy and procedures
* Other information will be discussed during the PDOS
Program Schedule: Two (2) months / 500 hours OJT for HRM Students in Boracay
Phase 1 – Orientation in PSMMA
0900H – 1100H - Start of Orientation
1100H – 1200H - Signing of Registration Form and waivers/
Submission of Requirements
1200H – 1300H - Lunch Time
1300H – 1400H - Medical Examination
Phase 2 – Notice of Departure
Upon completion of all the requirements and medical examination, departure notice will be given to the school or directly to the students three (3) days before the departure date.
Phase 3 – Departure from Manila
Depending on the location of the school or residence of the students, meeting place will be in PSMMA. PSMMA will arrange for a transportation going to the port. Otherwise, students can go directly to the port. OJT coordinator from PSMMA will join the students as they leave manila.
Phase 4 – Arrival in Boracay
OJT coordinator will bring the students directly to the PSMMA’s OJT house. Students will be given time to rest and fix their belongings.
Phase 5 – Endorsement of Trainees
OJT coordinator will endorse trainees to their superior. Trainees will personally submit all original documents. Briefing and observation will be conducted to the trainees.
Phase 6 – Start of OJT Program
Students will be rotated to all areas of the hotel such as but not limited to front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, bartending, fine dining, kitchen and resort operations.
Phase 7 – End of OJT Program
Students will be evaluated based on their performance for 2 months. A standard evaluation form given by the school will be used to evaluate the students.
Phase 8 – Departure in Boracay
OJT coordinator will fetch the students from their OJT house and will accompany them until they safely reach manila.
Phase 9 – Issuance of Training Certificates
Depending on the number of trainees, training certificates will be given 2 weeks up to maximum of 3 weeks after the OJT program.
