The Skill Stream of Australia's Migration Program is specifically designed to target migrants who have skills or outstanding abilities that will contribute to the Australian economy. General Skilled Migration (GSM) which is one part of Australia's Skilled Migration Program has 115,000 places set for 2009.

The basic requirements for GSM are:

• Applicants must be over 18 and under 45 years of age
• Good English language ability
• Recent skilled work experience
• Or a recently completed eligible Australian qualification.

Applicants must also have skills and qualifications for an occupation listed on Australia's Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Architectural Associate is one of the occupations listed.

Architectural Associate Job description:

Plans and liaising with builders and contractors.

Skill level

This occupation requires you to have completed formal qualifications achieved through study, training or work experience and is referred to as the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). You need to have attained AQF Diploma or higher qualification. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
