You will use an agent for visa assistance?? WHY???

The following scenarios will explain why you should definitely engage an agent to assist with a visa application

• you dont understand if you qualify for a particular visa or
• you cant afford to waste your limited funds applying and then be refused as you didnt understand what you were doing
• you cant risk being refused due to your lack of knowledge of immigration law
• you need to ask help from an agent or a third party simply to tell you if you qualify (if you cannot assess this basic information you will definitely have difficulty understanding the legal issues and visa criteria) or
• you dont understand the information provided on overseas immigration authorities websites (most of these provide self explanatory information for applicants - if you understand that information then you can prepare your own application) or
• you have been refused a visa previously and dont understand why or
• you have been refused a visa previously and want to re-apply or
• you want to visit overseas on a tourist visa or other visa and have never travelled outside of the Philippines or
• you dont know what obligations signing a legal document (e.g. a visa application) entails - if you make an incorrect answer on a visa application this can result in refusal or it can impact and affect any subsequent visa applications even if you made the mistake honestly 
• if you intend to deliberately lie on a visa application this is a serious breach of immigration laws - and you will be warned against this - it is best to be honest even if you think it may adversely affect your application - supplying false or incorrect answers will most certainly result in refusal of your application - an agent can assist to explain the truth to authorities without jeopardizing your application or future applications
• An agent will prepare a professionally prepared application that can expedite its processing

• abide by the Code of Conduct.

All migration agents registered with the MARA must:

• inform clients of all costs involved with their application and the expected time needed to perform the service
• inform clients of the progress of their application
• give clients written confirmation of total costs of their application and all steps of the process have to be documented
• keep all client information strictly confidential
• not make misleading claims as to the likely success of the application - this is a breach of the Code of Conduct and is highly unprofessional - agents do not decide your applications - they must give you a fair and honest opinion as to the likelihood of its success and should not encourage you to apply if your application will clearly not succeed  

Registered MARA agents must provide clients a copy of Information on the Regulation of the Migration Agent Profession, which provides you with basic consumer protection information.

It is not a legal requirement that you use a MARA agent for Australia.  Its your right to be able to make a choice as to what type of agent you use.  Be prepared for the reality that MARA agents must recover their operational costs including licensing, staffing, CPD training, professional indemnity insurance, annual registration fees, legislation costs - they may require higher fees than other agents as they are registered professionals and many are lawyers
