Daily wearers use clips and/or double sided tape around the perimeter of the hairpiece. Extended wearers may use high-performance tape or liquid adhesive or a combination of both. Since Hairwear does not do weaving, we teach our clients how to do the different attachments on their own.

Can I go swimming without losing my hair?

Yes, BUT it depends on the type of swimming and the method of attachment used. Daily wearers are limited and need to be more careful. If you plan to do some diving, an extended wear method of attachment is advised.

Will the system lift up in high winds?

It should not it was made to conform correctly to the shape of your head. That is one reason a custom system is superior to a stock piece. When we make your template we make sure to use layers of clear packing tape so the template will hold the shape and contour of your head. A system that fits well gives a more secure feeling.

Can I wear my hairpiece when I sleep?

Although you can, we really do not recommend sleeping in your wig/hairpiece. The friction that builds up from rubbing against the pillowcase can cause tangles and matting. It would also be good to let your scalp breathe at night.

Can I pick my own hairstyle or do I have to pick from your styles?

The choice is yours. Our photos serve as a guide to picking a hair style or just as inspiration as you design your own. You may also just bring a picture of a favorite hairstyle and we can duplicate it for you.

Do I have to take it off when I get my haircut?

It can be done either way. It's up to you and your stylist.

What are the pros and cons of synthetic vs. human hair, vs. a synthetic human blend?

People have their own personal preferences. However, there are certain facts that can be made to help make your decision. Both human and synthetic hair can experience color fading. However, Human hair can be re-colored, while synthetic hair can't. Synthetic systems make good daily wear systems because it has relatively low maintenance. But if synthetic is used for extended wear (sleeping and showering in it) it tends to go fuzzy too fast unlike human hair. Synthetic hair goes flat and must be steam waved every 6-8 weeks. Human hair may be ordered with wave up to 10mm or it may be permed. Grey hair in systems is synthetic. Grey hair makes a good blend with a human darker color mix, because if the color fades, it can be tinted again without covering the Grey.

What's the difference between a custom and stock hairpiece?

Stock hair pieces are a standard size and contour. They are also limited on colors available. They are pre-made and faster to get, but do not generally fit your head properly. Custom systems have been specially made and designed to fit best on your head only, with your needs and requirements met.

How long should I expect my full wig cap to last?

The caps of any type of wig - whether made with synthetic or human hair - are made with elastic and elastic eventually wears out. These wig caps will last about one year if you wear the wig eight hours a day every day. If you wear it only now and then it will last a lot longer.

Why does the hairpiece only last a year?

Natural hair is constantly shedding and replacing itself. Because the hair on your system doesn't grow, its life span is limited. Daily wear systems will last longer than extended wear systems because sleeping and showering with them adds to the wear and tear. One year is average. With proper maintenance they may last up to 2 years without repair.

How long will the hair system last before I need to re-order?

Much depends on you lifestyle and the level of care and maintenance you put into the hair system. But the type of base you have is also a deciding factor. Most full-lace bases will only look their best between 30 and 90 days. On the other hand we have long-lasting bases like our conventional systems that can be worn up to 18 months without any signs of break down.

How long will a custom system take to make and deliver?

From the time the client comes in for ordering and measuring, typical manufacturing times will take between 4-5 weeks. However, we also offer a Priority Rush service for an additional fee.

Can I take care of the maintenance myself?

Absolutely! You will save a lot in maintenance costs, and we'll show you how easy and convenient it is! Most big hair replacement centers offer very little education on how to take care of your own system. This way you are forced to go back for expensive monthly service.

How do I care for my system?

You may wash the system using a mild shampoo. Use cream type conditioners that do NOT contain Lanolin, polymers, or heavy oils. Be sure to keep the cream conditioner OFF the base of the unit because it will cause the knots to soften, then hair will fall out. You may also use leave on spray conditioner to keep the hair soft and pliable. Not conditioning at all will cause dryness and tangling. Stay away from SD-40 alcohol based styling aids as they tend to dry the hair.

How do I wash my hairpiece or wig?

1. Draw enough lukewarm water in a large bowl to cover the wig or hairpiece well.
2. Dissolve a capful of shampoo, along with 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
3. Turn the hairpiece inside out, then swish wig or hairpiece around in the shampoo solution, squeezing hair gently. Keep hair moving in one direction or it may tangle. If the front of the cap has any hair product on it, it may be scrubbed gently.
4. Using the same swishing method, rinse wig well with plenty of lukewarm water.
5. Dissolve a capful of conditioner in a large bowl of water to cover well. Work mixture through wig hair (remember: same direction). Rinse with fresh water. Lay wig out on a towel and pat out excess water.
6. Pick or comb out the hair gently. At this point, a detangler or leave-in conditioner may be used. If working on long hair, start combing out the hair at the ends and work up the strand to the roots.
7. The hairpiece may be set in rollers if desired and left to dry overnight. If you are in a rush, a blow drier may be used. Dry the inside of the hair piece first, before moving on to the hair.
8. A straightening or curling iron may also be used on 100% human hair wigs, but on human-synthetic blend wigs, don't let the iron get too hot or it will damage the synthetic wig fiber. Important: Do not use a straightening or curling iron on wet hair.

How do I shampoo with the unit in place?

Avoid very warm or hot water. Wet the hair, apply diluted shampoo and create a lather without scrubbing. Run a little more water over the hair to move the lather through your lace or monofilament to the oily scalp below and allow the lather to remain there for a while before rinsing. Pat or blot dry very gently with a towel. Do not rub your hair with the towel. Pick or comb out wet hair gently.

How often should my piece be washed and styled?

Wash your piece as little as possible. Picked-up odor, stains on the cap or dried-up hair products are good reasons to consider giving it a bath. Depending on your environment, this will vary from every week to every two weeks. Use your eyes and nose to determine this. If you wear a wig every day, it's a good idea to have a back-up piece, so you won't have to wear a head cover when its time to wash.

How do I store my hair system?

Keep your wig on a wig stand when you are not wearing it. This will air out your wig nicely and not stretch out the cap. It's also a great tool on which to air dry your wig after it's been washed. Keep the wig on a head block long enough to style it. You can keep your wig on the heads - just don't pull the wig pulled all the way down on the heads. After you finish styling, just lift up the wig so that it's not completely on the head, just resting on the head.

How much do your hair systems cost?

Our hair systems come at a most reasonable price range of P20,000 to P30,000. We only require a 50% downpayment and the balance is payable upon final fitting of the hair system.

How can your prices be affordable and still maintain the quality that high priced hair replacement companies have?

We are a factory direct distributor for custom hair systems. We take out the middleman, deal directly with the manufacturer and give the public a discounted retail price.

Why does the hair color of my system fade?

If you spend a lot of time outside, the sunlight "pinkens" up the color. Darker colors are not really affected but lighter browns, blondes and lighter reds get a pink tint after a while. It's not really noticeable unless you compare your wig next to a new wig. It's a very gradual color change. Since most human hair wigs are processed, you may eventually have to re-color when it fades (remember that synthetic wigs cannot be dyed). Also remember that since your system is made of human hair, it will behave as natural hair does and on humid or rainy days, it may frizz or lose some of its curl.
