Canon is proud to introduce the latest DC22 DVD camcorder, capable of dual layer DVD

recording of up to 108 minutes of continuous video recording. It is also the world’s lightest

2.0-Megapixel DVD camcorder* weighing only 410g, offering consumers a perfect mix of

superb performance and stylish good looks. DC22 features a 2.2-Megapixel CCD sensor with

true 16:9 high-resolution widescreen recording using a 10x optical zoom lens, RGB primary

colour filter and DIGIC DV imaging processor for the best movies and stills. Other useful

features include a complete range of shooting functions and enhanced ease-of-use operations.

DC22 offers versatile and high performance DVD recording on a daily basis.

Dual Layer DVD Recording

DC22’s dual layer DVD recording capability allows up to 2.6GB storage, which is 1.8x the

storage of conventional 8cm DVDs, or up to 108 minutes seamless continuous video recording

on DVD-R DL disc. Dual layer DVDs are compliant with the DVD9 format, making them

compatible with most consumer DVD players, DVD recorders and computer DVD-ROM

drives for easy playback.

High performance specifications

Despite its small size, DC22 features a full range of high performance specifications. The 10x

optical zoom genuine Canon video lens with super spectral coating reduces lens flare and

ghosting, while the Electronic Image Stabiliser (EIS) counteracts camera shake to ensure sharp

images. With a 2.2-Megapixel CCD, DC22 records high resolution, good quality video and

stills. Image quality with true-to-life colour reproduction, sharp details and amazing clarity is

further assured by Canon’s special DIGIC DV imaging processor. Variable zoom speed control

is also available for professional-style zooming.

True widescreen video recording

With DC22, consumers can record in true high-resolution 16:9 mode or 4:3 mode. It even

allows for 16:9 widescreen format playback on conventional 4:3 TVs. DC22 makes widescreen

recording easy with several user-friendly features such as its large 2.7” extra bright 16:9 LCD

and widescreen button. DC22’s colour viewfinder which shows 16:9 in widescreen format and

16:9 Level Marker function provide easy and accurate horizontal 16:9 widescreen video

composition.

DVD convenience

Get quick access to recorded footage without the hassles of having to constantly forward and

rewind with DC22. There are no more worries of accidentally overwriting irreplaceable

precious memories as it automatically detects and writes to only blank portions of the disc. The

Visual Index function also displays recorded footage in a convenient layout for easy searching.

DC22 is capable of in-camera editing in –RW/VR mode with the Play List function which

allows you to choose and play the favourite footage or still images and change the order of

selection on this list anytime. The Quick Edit function also allows you to divide or delete

original footage freely to further customize your home videos.

Extensive camera functions

DC22’s Special Scene (SCN) button provides easy access to 8 special scene modes enabling

users to capture professional looking images under different shooting conditions. Point-andshoot

still camera users will appreciate the 9-point AiAF that allows fast and accurate focusing

of off-centre subjects and high speed continuous shooting of up to 4.2 frames per second for

taking fast moving action. Still images can be captured onto the memory card even during

movie recording, allowing users to capture precious memories in both media. White LED light

and mini video light are available for optimum shooting under low-light conditions. The added

convenience of PictBridge compatibility allows users to easily transfer images to the printer for

photo printout.

Compact and slim with high operability

Being the world’s lightest DVD camcorder*, DC22 also features smooth, flowing lines, and

fits snugly in the hand, allowing for single-handed operation of the camcorder, which is further

aided by thoughtfully laid-out controls. DC22 is well constructed with a nice solid feel to it,

but at the same time, is amazingly light and features an electronically controlled lens barrier

that automatically closes during Playback mode to protect the lens. Quick, single-action

switching between Record and Playback is made possible with the Return Switch, while a

Multi-selector allows fast and easy access to camcorder functions. A Fast Eject button allows

users to immediately pop out the DVD media easily even when the camcorder is switched off.

DVD sharing, connectivity & printing

To back up precious memories on DVD, the bundled Roxio MY DVD software includes a

DVD Authoring function to edit footage, make chapters/DVD menu and DVD duplication.

You can share your memorable movies and stills quickly and conveniently on a DVD disc with

the Easy one-touch dubbing function provided in the MyDVD software.
