Dr. Mar B. Nieto -Outside Consultant and Inventor of HMM Nutricare Products
Dr. Nieto is a respected food scientist in the USA and has over 37 years of combined food industry and teaching experience. He has 3 degrees in Food Science and an expert in many areas such as functional ingredients or nutraceuticals, food engineering, nutrition and product development. Dr. Nieto obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees in food science and nutrition from the University of the Philippines and taught at this prestigious university for 8 years before pursuing a doctorate in food science at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia USA. He has been a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologist for over 20 years and has very close contact with every food and ingredient supplier in the US. He has given lectures and seminars at professional meetings and to R&D audiences of almost every food company and many pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies in the U.S. You name a food company in the US, and yes Dr. Nieto has likely visited it – McCormick, Universal Flavors, Sensient, Virginia Dare, Firmenich, Campbell Soup, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Pepsi Cola, Coca Cola, Frito Lay, Hershey Foods, Cadbury, Phillip Morris, Perdue Foods, Tyson Foods, Continental Mills, to name a few. He has also traveled to Europe and Asia such as Germany, Denmark, Turkey, China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and the Phililppines, to conduct scale-up trials or give lectures and share his expertise to the food and pharmaceutical customers. He has 3 pending patents filed with the US Patent Office. Dr. Nieto has given many magazine interviews and was quoted in many articles in food magazines in the US.

Dr. Nieto is considered a guru in his own right in nutraceuticals or food ingredients that have therapeutic values. His education and knowledge of foods and nutrition is superior. Dr. Nieto invented these supplements for other reasons than business and profit. Even though he finished all the needed research more than fifteen years ago, he did not pursue to develop them because there was really no sense of urgency on his part. He has a very good career as a Food Scientist and extremely loves his job. However, when his wife developed health conditions that most people above 50 suffer, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and other digestive problems such as GERD or reflux and bleeding ulcer, he realized that these products are meant to be invented, but now he had to work fast. Dr. Nieto did not waste any time and soon, with the help of his son, he came up with 3 prototypes, that he later calls the ultimate supplement trio, that he gave his wife to eat as a meal replacer or a supplement to meals. The result amazed her doctor and before long friends and relatives started using these products with the same positive results. Mr. Nieto may not have as much experience and expertise as his father Dr. Mar Nieto has in the food industry, but is closely following in his father's footsteps in becoming a guru in nutraceuticals and wellness foods. He received his Bachelors degree in Food Industry and Technology Management at the University of Maryland in College Park and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Food Safety and Risk Analysis at the University of Maryland. Before joining HMM Nutricare Foods, Mr. Nieto worked in the food industry for 4 years in an R&D lab specifically working with the formulation of dry powder food ingredients and nutraceuticals to be used in various customer food applications for textural and nutritive properties as well as stability.  

Mr. Nieto started at HMM Nutricare Foods heading R&D and business operations. He traveled to the Philippines in 2006 to help HMM Nutricare Foods-Philippines to optimize their product formulation, find suitable ingredient and equipment suppliers as well as procurement and starting up manufacturing operations. Soon after, Mr. Nieto became responsible for all business and manufacturing operations and R&D in the USA. His accomplishments include overseeing and completing all HMM Nutricare Product - USA formulation, finding all suitable ingredients, materials and equipment suppliers, optimizing operation expenses, handling regulatory and legal issues (i.e. FDA and USDA regulations and labeling, contracts and agreements) for HMM Nutricare products and operations and commercializing all HMM Nutricare Products in the USA all within his first nine months at HMM Nutricare Foods. As current President of HMM Nutricare Foods, he is responsible for manufacturing operations and procurement of all specialty ingredients for both HMM Nutricare Foods-Philippines and USA to ensure the products are the same. He is currently working on expanding distribution to the entire North American region.

In addition to his career at HMM Nutricare Foods, Mr. Nieto is a lecturer at his alma mater, the University of Maryland-College Park, where he teaches Food Product Research and Development. He is an avid University of Maryland Terrapins fan and keeps close ties with his alma mater academically being a spokesman for the Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the recruitment of new students into the program. Mr. Nieto is an active member in the Institute of Food Technologist (IFT). In 2007, Mr. Nieto was named Strathmore Who's Who Professional of the Year in the food industry.
