Pinoy inventor receives international award in France

The first Filipino 90-day hair recovery inventor will receive today in Paris, France the 2004 World Quality International (WQC) Star Award by the Business Initiatives Directions (BID), the global organization that gave former United States President Bill Clinton a medal for "Outstanding Leadership" last year.

 

In a letter to Antonio Malaya, the BID of France said that its International Selection Committee selected him for the WQC Star Award in the Gold Category Paris 2004 during its 21st Global Convention at the BID Summit Award rites today.

Princess Shanaz Husain of Shannaz Herbals was among those awarded the WQC medal for her modern technology innovation using herbal products.

This is the first time such an award was bagged by the Philippines from among 175 countries ranked by the Paris-based organization helping develop scientific breakthroughs using herbal products to raise public awareness of emerging technologies.

In a letter to the awardee, BID president Jose Prieto of Spain said the Filipino inventor will be among awardees of outstanding technologies for having invented "Hairbac," a herbal hair enhancing product.

The product was developed from "laureas terin," a Philippine plant richly grown in Southern Tagalog provinces and is said to guarantee a 95 percent hair recovery either from partial or total hair loss.

Prieto advised Malaya to contact the French Embassy prior to his departure for Paris.

The Filipino inventor�s product was chosen for having institutionalized an effective process of hair recovery within three months after an initial application.

Malaya described the WQC award as an honor "for country and myself."

"Hopefully, it sets an economic threshold and example for Filipino entrepreneurs to be recognized in the international market in innovative technology and growth," said the awardee.
