1.  Why Transactions Are Only In Pick-Up Basis? – Some buyers don’t show up in the agreed meeting places at the agreed time.  This situation causes a lot of problems for me. I have to immediately return the fish to its tank. That means I have to forgo any plans I had after the delivery or meet-up.  This will cost me transportation expenses and time lost.

2.  Why I Don’t Sell Proven Breeders? – Proven breeders are the ones that are currently producing fingerlings in my business.  Why would I sell “the goose that lays the golden egg.”?

3.  Why I Don’t Sell Potential Breeders? – Potential breeders are the ones identified as pairs of males and females and have the potential of breeding.  Male and female identification is tricky.  Even after identifying and pairing, there is no guarantee these pair will breed.  There are a lot of factors to be considered in breeding.  The male may be less aggressive and impotent for the females.  The females may not have the capability of breeding.  The environment may also not be suitable for breeding.  

4.  Why I Don’t Sell All Of My Fingerlings Stock To Fingerling Buyers? – I am also selling drum setup systems for tilapia and included in the setup is a required number of tilapia fingerlings.  I can’t sell the drum setup without tilapia fingerlings.

5.  Why There Are No Reservations?  I transact on a first-come first-serve basis.  Reservations will just deny other early buyers the chance to secure their stock.  And if I give reservations and deny other buyers, I will incur opportunity costs when the buyer who reserved don’t show-up.

6.  Why It Costs That Much In Purchasing A Basic Drum Setup When The Materials Used Are So Common? – The pricing of the drum setup is not just a factor of the cost of materials (drum, pump, pipings, fingerlings, etc) but also the overhead costs such as labor and the research applied into the unit.  The setup was developed through the use of techniques and studies from attending seminars, site visits, research materials, and other costs in refining the technology added to the setup.  That is why I cannot give the blueprints for the drum setups for free.  I have to recover all the expenses I have incurred.


Note:  The drum setup was made as simple as possible and can be operated and maintained by anyone with no knowledge in aquaculture and just following the routine suggested in the manual.
