The Philippine Islands have a tropical climate. At sea level, temperatures rarely fall below 27°C (80°F). Interior valleys and leeward sides of islands tend to be warmer, while mountain slopes and peaks and windward sides of islands tend to be cooler. Rainfall averages about 2,030 mm (80 in) a year, with more precipitation in coastal plains than in sheltered inland valleys. In the western part of the country, the rainy season occurs during the summer monsoon, from May to November, when the wind blows from the southwest; the dry season occurs during the winter monsoon, from December to April, when the wind blows from the northeast. In contrast, the eastern side of the country receives most of its rainfall during the winter monsoon and has no true dry season

Temp/humidity: 78°-84°F / 70-80% humidity. I also dampen one-half of the substrate in the terrarium by overflowing the water dish then I allow it to dry out.

Enclosure: This is a obligate burrower. As a spiderling, I used a vial that would allow at least three inches (3") of substrate for burrowing. As subadult-adult I use a terrarium that will allow at least four inches (4") of substrate

Adult Size: This specie may attain a leg length of two inches (7"). My girl is 1.5".

Food Consumption: I fed my new born spiderlings fruit flies, then when they reached 1/2" I introduced baby crickets, My adult , I  give one (1) one inch (1")  B. dubia roaches or one (1) adult crickets weekly. This specie is a good eater, and attack its prey with a vengence

Temperament: This is a very seclusive tarantula,  as an adult. It may use a defensive pose, yet not aggressive, but would rather retreat than stand and fight.

Comments: An aggressive eating T. It ambush its prey with lightening speed, then drag it down the burrow for consumption. They have never refused a meal unless near a molt.

This is a beautiful charcoal grey Old World dwarf tarantula. A must have to your collection.

This species is found in South and Southeast Asia (Philippines)

This species is not considered to be dangerous, nevertheless stings differ from each and everyone so caution is still advised.

Captive Care:
Day time 78-85 night time temps 72-75F, this is a sub-tropical species that does best in a humid enviroment, so the temps should be 65-85.F and humidity %60 -%70. 
They are typically found in forests within or under rotting logs,
between loose tree roots and in damp leaf litter.

Housing:
For adults: "5" W x "6" L x "5" H.
Give them a little extra room, but enclosures this large are not needed.

Cannibalism has been reported for this species, so its best not to house more than one single specimen in an enclosure.

Adult size:
This species rarely attains adult lengths greater than (1.5 inches),
the 2nd instars are only about 3 - 4 mm. total lengths,
a 3rd insrat will be double that of the 2nd instars being about 6 - 7mm,
This is a very small species

Substrate:
Moist coco bedding for substrate,
with small clumps of sphagnum moss,
placed in 1 or 2 corners of the encolsures for hides,

Food:
small crickets / termites / and other small insects

Misting:
3 times a week to keep humidity levels up.

Gestation period:
3 1/2 - 4 1/2 months

Sexing:
males will have slightly different shaped chelae than the females,
males are smaller and thinner bodied than the females,
females will have more of a round chelae,
the males chelae will be more angular shaped.
the first pecting teeth ( left & right ) on females will be enlarged,
so it can be tricky to sex Chaerilus celebensis since they are so small

Pectine count:
the pectine count for this species is,
( 4 teeth for females & 5 teeth for males )
its quite unusual that hey have so few pecting teeth,
but this is a tiny species !
