Established in the early '70s, Heritage Art Center is considered a premier gallery institution in the Philippines , having showcased hundreds of exhibits by some of the most talented names in contemporary visual arts. Being the first in the country, It has successfully balanced the demands of a commercial establishment and an artistic venue, occasionally featuring experimental works.

The gallery has been continuously involved in the recognition and promotion of emerging talent, creating an awareness of art amongst old and new collectors by showcasing good quality art works and providing platform for interaction between artists and collectors.

On this date, the gallery boasts of a collection of over a thousand artworks, a few of which are on display on the website. About the Artist: 

Jose Castro was born in Carmen, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija 1908. ( Conservative realisms ) From 1922-25 worked as an apprenticed at the Nicanor Lopez painting shop in Cabanutaan, learning his elementary drawing there. Later earned a living from crayon sketches of portrait sisters. In 1927, opened a small sign shop in Baliuag, Bulacan. Was a protégé of Don Fabian de la Rosa, studying art from Don Fabian each time the then dean of UP’s School of Fine Arts came to Baliuag to paint the scenery in the early ‘30s. Was employed by LVN Pictures as poster artist and set designer. During the war years, was a member of the Phil Film stage shows Commissions include: in the ‘60s still-life painting for the museum and gallery of the Pamantasan ng Maynila; still life work repainted on National Book Store Christmas cards four years running; flowers, fruits, and wild life for Prince Norodum Sinanuk. Was part of several group exhibits at Capitol Gallery, Maynilad Art Gallery, Philamlife, and La Salle Univ in the early ‘70s, mounting his first solo in Baliuag in 1972, the year Baliuag honored him as one of its outstanding citizens. Held 2nd solo, Kawilihan Gallery 1983; 3rd solo, 1989, and 4th solo, in 1990, both in Baliuag. His sixth solo was at the Mla Hotel, 1991. Member of the board of the Mabini Artist Asso and Lakan sining ng Bulacan, where he has been active since the early ‘70s. His < Mangga at Suman> and < Lumpia at Puto> were displayed beside those of European master painters in El Prado Palace, gifts of then Pres Diosdado Macapagal to Generalismo Franco of Spain. Paintings < Sugpo At Alimango > and < Pesang Dalag > were the favorites of Pres and Mrs. Macapagal, and decorated Malacanang dining hall. Won 2nd prize at a UP annual art competition in 1927. Also won medals at the Mla Carnival for his still-life works. Recd outstanding still life award, Luneta summer exhibit, 1960. [6th one-man exhibits brochure, Mla Hotel 1991]
