An estimated 1.6 billion people live without access to electricity. Left in the dark, most turn to kerosene and other fossil fuels for light. Living with a kerosene lamp is like smoking 40 cigarettes a day, and more than 1.8 million people a year die from complications arising from indoor air pollution. Q: How bright is Nokero?

• A: Nokero is not as bright as a typical incandescent bulb and is about a 5-watt equivalent. The N200 is 13.5 lumens on high and 8 lumens on low, and the N100 is about 8 lumens. Both the Nokero N100 and N200 are bright enough to read by, cook by, study or perform household tasks. They are brighter than a smart-phone screen on its brightest setting, and most importantly it's light is brighter and steadier than a typical kerosene lantern or a candle. It takes the human eye 20-30 minutes to fully adjust to dim light so give your eyes time to adjust.

Q: What’s the best way to charge Nokero bulbs?

• A: Be sure to hang the bulb in full, direct sunlight all day. Make sure the solar panels are getting the most sun possible. If it’s the N200, tilt it slightly toward the sun. For both bulbs, keep them out of any shadows that may pass over the bulb during the day. Don’t charge it from behind a window. Also remember - the bulbs works better on sunny days than cloudy days, but they can still charge on cloudy days.
