 A: The 5.2 is a new generation Strida 5 model. Of course all good features of the Strida 5.0 are kept. We will sum up the most important improvements for you:

• The looks: the grey looking plastic parts, i.e. the grey colored ball joint is changed to a better looking black one. Also the colors of the brake calipers are changed.
• The belt has become stronger
• The freewheel is improved

 A: Yes, there are two different frame and three wheel sizes:

• Strida LT & SD : has a 16'' frame and you can either choose for 16'' wheels or the bigger and faster 18'' wheels (Strida SX) for riders between 153cm(5') and 193cm (6'4") tall

Besides the different frame sizes, also a bended steer as an upgrade kit is available for taller riders.

 Q: The frame looks weird. How strong is the frame?

 A:  The frame is very strong. The design of Strida is based on nature's strongest geometric form: the triangle. The Strida surpasses easily all frame strength criteria and product safety tests set by different international institutions.

 Q: What is it like to ride the Strida?

 Q: Where is the Strida made?

 A: The Strida 1 and 2 were made in the United Kingdom. All other Strida's are produced in Taiwan and are redeveloped in the Netherlands.

 Q: My knees hit the steer when cycling on the Strida, is there anything I can do about it?

 A: Yes! Especially for taller riders, Strida Philippines has introduced extra large, bended handlebars. The standard handlebars can easily be replaced by the large handlebars. This does not affect the folded size and the Strida will still fit the travel bag.

 Q: What makes the Strida MAS edition so special?

 A: The Strida MAS is made in close co-operation with Mark Sanders the original designer of the Strida 22 years ago. Check out the details such as the standard 2 speed system, the colored brake calipers and lime green Strida logo on the seat. Mark Sanders signature on the bottom tube makes the complete bike sublime.

 Q: How fast can I get the Strida?

 Q: Can I upgrade my Strida?

 Public transport information

Q: Is it possible to take the Strida in the bus, metro, subway or train?

 A: Yes, it is allowed to take your Strida into the metro, train, bus or subway. The Strida is especially designed for commuting. With its greaseless belt you will not be a burden for other persons. However, in some countries additional requirements for taking folding bicycles in public transport could exist. In Germany it is, for instance, obligated to pack the Strida in a bag.

 Q: Can I take the Strida on an airplane?

 A: Yes, it is allowed to take a bicycle on an airplane. A folding bicycle is cheaper to check in than a regular city bike. Although, airlines charge a fee, there are travelers who succeeded in taking the Strida for free into the airplane. Conditions may vary.

 Q: Will Strida fit the trunk of my car/ boat?

 A: Yes, the Strida will fit in the trunk of your car or boat. When folded, the size of the Strida 5.0 is 114x51x23cm. The Strida SX is only 2 cm longer. Obviously, the Strida Mini is slightly smaller when folded 102cm x 51 cm x 23 cm.

 Maintenance

Q: How do I maintain the Strida?

 A: While the bike looks unusual, most components are standard and universally available at bike shops. Strida's simplicity contributes to the minor maintenance. Broken parts can easily be replaced. All spare parts are delivered from stock. If desired, it is also possible to send you the spare parts.

 Q: What is meant with zero maintenance?

 A: The Strida does not require a lot of maintenance, due to the aluminum frame and its resistance against corrosion. However, we do recommend a periodically check up once a half year.

 Q: What to do with a flat tire?

 A: The Strida has a standard 16" tire. These are available at our web shop and at any bike shop.

 Q: How long will the belt last?

 A: The belt is made of aramide, an aromatic polyamide. The belt is tested under extreme circumstances and lasts up to 60.000km - 80.000km (50.000 miles). The belt can easily be replaced when necessary.

 Q: What is covered by the warranty?

 A: Strida offers 1 year warranty on the frame. Please refer to the warranty conditions on this website.

 Q: How rust proof is the Strida?

 A: While no bike is completely rustproof, the strida is as rustproof as a bicycle can be:

• Instead of a chain the Strida has a greaseless belt drive.
• The entire frame of the Strida is made of 7000-series aluminium, the same material found in sailboat masts.
• All hardware on the Strida is either stainless steel or treated steel.
• The cables are all completely encased in protective and lubricated cable housing; most of the cable is inside the frame.

Q: My ball popped out of the joint (215-11-12), what can I do to repair it?

 A: The frame tube is protected by a plastic socket. When the Strida is over extended during folding, the ball pops out this socket instead of damaging the aluminum frame. Please consult one of our official Strida dealers to make sure the plastic socket isn't damaged.
