Started to restore  Nissan Maxima -  February 4, 2012     GWAPO NA SA LOOB AT ASTIG TINGNAN SA LABAS.      March 15, 2013 Mas lalong pinaganda.

Buying a brand new car: Yes walang sakit sa ulo sa repairs.But  it will cost a hefty Php 40,000.00 for the downpayment.And then Php at least 20,000.00 sakit sa ulo na monthly installments. Pag na delay ka sa payment mo reposess na car mo. Leaves you nothing.In my story,I am only spending around Php 4,000.00 to Php 8,000 at the max a month.Pero walang pressure sa bayaran sa installments.But as you can see with patience kapag lumalabas yung problema na  dapat palitan palitan on weekends .Kaya ngayon Nagagamit na mas maayos kesa dati.

One click start, parang bago ang makina, walang kalamapag,maayos ang electricals, and instruments and all lightings.Very quiet engine.Parang hindi umaandar sa tunog.Please see the restoration processbelow kung paano magrestore within monthly budget .                                                                                                                                                                                                    

REMEMBER :IN BUYING A SECOND HAND CAR ,YOU WILL INHERIT THE MAINTENANCE NEGLIGENCE OR DILIGENCE OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER.

Maganda ang ugali . madaling kausap, reasonable ang presyo.HIndi Balbon gumawa. Pinagtiyatyagaan ng husto. Pinatutuyo ng husto maganda ang preparation. February 28, 2013- Scheduled Start Hilamos    Cost 10,000- pero natawaran .Pang sideline presyo. He has a gift on color matching .Kaya niyang exact color . His expertise on high end cars like benz ,bmw in a well known casa. Learnings: Kasulit if you have car cover, please take it off when it is raining.

This causes premature deterioration of car paint.The rain on the car cover causes the acid rain to soak and seep more into the paint which later on will develop small bubbles. The accumulated heat in the metal pulls  the cold water into the steel. How? JUst like in glass , when you pour water either cold or hot into it, may perspiration right ?Ganun din yun.

Bought 4 stainless steel  tire valve cover . Cost  Php 50.00 each x 4 =Php 200.00

Developed a way to virtually seal minor leak on power steering atf. I can pass on the secret by email. Kaya ngayon totally

wala nang leak sa ATF for 4 weeks na . It only cost me Php 500.00 lahat. Ideally for those nahirapan na or nainis na sa kakatulo hehehe.

Either safe na remedyo or habang nanghahanap ng parts.But as for me ayos naman  it works.

Front Wheel bearing preventive maintenance: Cost of front wheel bearing-Php 750.00, Labor - Php 450.00.

Bought brand new Maruzo wipers- Php 250.00 , Machine Shop wheel bearing unmounting old  and press new bearing- Php 250.00.

LEARNINGS:Noticed the deteriorating wheel bearing  especially when going down bridge flyovers on neutral gear . There is a slight loss of  forward momentum .Prevented the further  damage to wheel bearing housing mount.There is  a soft grind like noise  due to metal friction  .Upon restoration and test drive,, the wheel noise dissappeared and the forward momentum while going down the bridges becomes very smooth coasting. The car is really very very smooth. During restoration,the mechanic has to clean the velocity joint rod mount free from rust , this includde the grooves or teeth .Motor oil must be added to ensure perfect refitting. The cause of early wheel bearing deterioration is due to age of usage .As more metal and dirt plus water accumulates,These cause  the wheel bearing to premature damage. This is why flooded cars must have the wheel bearing cleaned and repacked.

 I am doing neutrals because ang lakas ng power sa hatak. ng Maxima  With this, I am able to maximize  gasoline efficiency.Mas nakakatipid sa gas and clutch lining.

Restored Fuel lines hose.Fuel Hose- 2 meters costs Php 220.00. Labor Php 200.00. Total Php 400.00 

Learnings: IT MAY ALSO HAPPEN TO YOU ! Rats and rodents often times go under car hoods without our notice. They bring food materials and make our cars a cozy eating place.This happens between 1am -5 am where the environment is very quiet and when no people in the area. 

In the long term they can bring disaster to our cars. They start to gnaw rubber materials especially fuel hose that can cause gasoline leaks which can lead to fire.  Kasulit . BEFORE STARTING YOUR ENGINE. PLEASE CHECK YOUR FUEL LINES DELIKADO.Tomorrow  I will buy Racumen to give it to Mickey Mouse and friends. 

The mechanic raised the fuel hose high enough and far from rat reach.

Earliest sign: Fuel evaporates pag may  leak maski na maliit. Resulting to:

1.Madaling maubos ang gasolina maski na hindi nagagamit .2. On high speed may amoy konti ng gasolina. but on low speeds no smell ( micro leaks lang kasi )

The mags has been buffed to mirror finish. Great and sparkling wheels when rolling. Php 2,500.00 sa merkado .But  This is a Do it Yourself polishing. 3 days in the making.Gastos lang ng mga stripsol , Gas, Fine Sandpaper, Rubbing compund- Turtle and GLO - stronger metal polisher Or MC - mas subtle type.

The mags are weekly  re-polished to achieve literally  mirror finish manually.

Replaced Piston rings-Value of materials- Php 1,600- Piston ring, Value of Silicon Seal  Php 100 x 2 pcs- Php 200 .00 ,Change Oil  and Filter- Php 850.00   4 Spark plugs  Php 85.00 x 4 Php 340.00 ,Labor- Php 2,500.00.Total:  Php 5,150.00    

Learning; The earliest sign of mild piston deterioriation- PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Idling is very bad . Maaayos pag palitan ng new spark plugs but after 5 days babalik din. Side effect causes premature replacement of spark plugs. The white smoke may subside after warm up because the extreme heat in the engine causes the rings to expand kaya nawawala pag mainit na ang makina.                                 But the white smoke persists upon increase in speed because there is already a sizeable gap between the on the diameter of ring circle.  This circle  points of the piston ring eventually opens up. The increased extreme air pressure  causes small opening gap sa piston ends which is the reason why oil forces its way into the combustion chamber kaya . the oil and water will short circuit the spark plug.Kaya basa ng oil or  mixed with water yung plugs pag tinanggal.Pag sira na spark plug incomplete combustion or spark plug misfire resulting to pag pugak pugak ang car lalo ng kung apakan yung gas pedal.

Pag nabukasan ang piston chamber yung piston assembly  umaalog konti because of wear and tear ng outer diameter ng piston ring . Once replaced with new piston rings- Hindi mo maalog yung 4 na piston assemble sa mga chambers because it is now very tight. In other words yakap na yakap sa engine cylinder sleeves.Kaya purong gasoline lang ang pumapasok sa combustion chamber. Pag sunog malinis. walang tilamsik oil  or nababawasan ng water saradiator or masyadong obvious oil sa labi ng tambutso.

If you are going to buy a second hand car kindly check the water level and oil level . Because the low levels will hide the WHITE smoke.                             Remember to test driving the car at least 30 minutes and revolution ninyo maigi. If there is no smoke,check the temperature of the engine reading if it is unusually high.overheat na yan sira na cylinder gasket or valve seals worse valve guide, But also check the connection of temperature gauge.pag sira daw medyo tagilid yan.This will hide the overheat problem ng car.

Malamang the car needs overhaul. ( Palit Cylinder head gaskets etc- Yan ang naexperience ko)

The cause of premature overhaul - 1. Overheat, Kadalasan wala nang water sa radiator pinapa andar pa rin. 2.Pabaya sa change oil  or di nagpapa change oil .3. Pinapang carera yung car at todo  tapak high rev. sa gas pedal parati lalo na sa highway. The combination of these is disastrous .

THANK GOD WALA NANG USOK  ANG SUPER NISSAN MAXIMA  EVEN AT THE SPEED OF 100KPH. NEXT: AIRCON FULL RESTORATION

Bought brand new speedometer cable-Php  420.00 . Labor Php 150.00 Learnings- Sentra box type cable is the same as maxima. Just took the new inner pin and place in the old housing to fit into panel gauge housing - Galing talaga ni "ABNER"

Replaced driver side Suspension arms Bushing Big and Small-Php 750.00 ,Labor- Php 400.00, Machine shop- Php 200.00, Just replaced the bushings with brandnew ones. Good thing saw the bad mainteanance practice of previous owner.  Very solid ang bagsak sa lahat ng lubak even when turning . Fully restored the front suspension system of car.

Replaced  New timing bearing Tensioner- Cost Php 800.00 .Found the culprit creating  the little noise. Thought it was the Aircon Compressor bearing, Or the water pump , or the Alternator bearing. Plus Labor 350.00-Mas lalong tumahimik ang engine. Replaced PCV Valve.-

Learnings: The Nissan SGX power windows switch  is the same as Nissan Maxima. Just take off the underneath housing of Nissan sgx power switch and assemble it with the outer plastic or fiberglass enclosure of NIssan Maxima.( Yung mga lever switch lang ang sira) I traded the old one kaya nakakuha ng discount.

Replaced power steering housing -with unreasonabl;e high cost of power steering assembly in Banaue,  discovered Maxima power steering assembly in Laguna, Blumentritt bought surplus at a very reasonable price.Replaced clamp bushing of rack and pinion- Preventive maintenance.-Learnings. With difficulty in finding maxima bushing, found out that toyota revo.bushing fits like original.Replaced 1 bolt for rack and pinion clamp.Replaced oil seal steering box .  Thank God wala nang tagas sa  ATP. ( As of May 4, 2012 wala tagas. Buying in Blumentritt works-Reliable kausap )

Back job power steering-Learnings- Mechanic should have replaced the corroded seal caused by micro lines on the shaft with a new Seal kit again.This was after Buffing of Shaft for micro line corrosion .LEARNING Do not let anyone fool you to sandpaper the shaft to remedy the oil leak with power steering . It will make the leak  worse than before. Hopefully it remains on leak free status.Cost me again Php 1,400.00 for the new Kit ( Cannot buy the affected 1 piece just in set. I still have the undamaged seals) Remember .No amount of spring cutting on the seal cap will tighten to adapt to The sanded shaft. ( The sanding further increases the gap for Fluid to pass.) Baka pwede pa shaft metal rebuilding through micron chrome plating para refill yung water rusted grooves.Cause: Most likely na punit muna yung rubber booth and napadaan sa baha kaya kinalawang over the years.

New Stainless tail pipe- worth Php  600.00. Rewelded and adjusted under exhaust pipe- no more banging underneath- worth Php 250.00.Restored left rear brakes with wheel bearing repacking.Labor worth Php 1,000.00.Restored right brakes with wheel bearing repacking - Parts worth Php 1,800.00.Replaced all with new brake fluid wheel  cups.Restored defective copper brake fluid piping.Restored  panel gauge lighting and fuel gauge.

Learnings Warning : Upon buying a second hand car ,please drive slow for a start until getting home. And then please check your brake system thoroughly .Discovered that brake had been totally neglected.  Worse, 3 pudpod na pads na talaga and 1  not functioning at all. The copper piping where fluid pass was intentionally plug bended ( pinatay) so that there will be no fluid leak ( remedyo lang).This is dangerous at high speed hindi balanse ang preno baka tumaob ang oto.
