What is FertAlive? FertAlive is a bio-organic plant booster and soil conditioner. It is the right combination of different types of beneficial microorganisms and fungi. It is a liquid concentrate derived from organic components, such as humus soil, sea minerals and earthworm castings, specially processed and cultured to fit the nutrient requirements of tropical climate plants. FertAlive is formulated by John Evans, a 9-time Guinness World Record Holder for growing the biggest vegetable in the world in cooperation with the Rarefruit Farmers Cooperative. FertAlive is neither a fertilizer nor a pesticide but a plant booster and soil innoculant. It helps the plant absorb nutrients available in the soil by breaking the nutrients down into forms easier for the plant to use. FertAlive helps the plant fight off diseases and pests attack due to balanced plant nutrition resulting to better plant health. Unhealthy plants are easily attacked by pest and disease.

What is the shelf life of the bottles? Unopened bottles kept in a cool dark place and away from heat should last at least one year from date of manufacture. Opened bottles should be used within a month of opening as exposure to air may degrade and cause evaporation of some components.

What are its effects on the plants and the soil? The beneficial microbes in FertAlive make their way into the plant and soil. You will notice that after 2 weeks of spraying FertAlive in your plants, the leaves turn into bluish-green or deep green color which is a good sign of a healthy plant.

How is FertAlive applied?  Mix 330ml per every 16 liters of water for rice, corn and other vegetable and ornamental plants. For vegetables and similar fast-growing cash crops, FertAlive is mixed with water at a concentration of 20ml per 1 liter of water. For fruit trees, the concentration used is less at 5ml per 1 liter or 1 liter for every 200 liters of water due to enormous foliage that will be sprayed. For fast results foliar spray is advised, for longer lasting effects, drenching the soil will be advisable. A combination of both system of application is much better.  Water used should be non-chlorinated.           

 Will fertilizer and pesticide usage be detrimental to FertAlive?  FertAlive applied a few days before or after fertilizer and pesticide application is not expected to be affected by the chemicals provided the prescribed dosages are adhered to. Overdose of chemical usage could however kill some of the microbes. FertAlive should never be mixed with pesticides and inorganic fertilizers as some of the live components maybe incompatible with the inorganic chemicals at such high concentrations.

What are the expected savings?Users can expect savings of at least 30% of fertilizer inputs compared to normal protocol recommended by seed suppliers when FertAlive is used as recommended without any loss in crop yield. For vegetables, FertAlive will be used over 4 weekly applications. Application could be terminated much earlier if the plants appear to be doing well (robust appearance). For fruit trees, a monthly application per hectare during the vegetative (non flower and fruit bearing months) should be more than enough to achieve a reduction in fertilizer input of at least 30%. Application during flower and fruit bearing stages is not recommended as the spray could disturb the flowers and buds and become detrimental to fruit set and fruit quality.
