About Us

La Manille School of Esthetics and Wellness aims to  provide students with a firm foundation and an in-depth knowledge of professional skin care.

La Manille School of Esthetics was the brainchild of a Filipino New York-licensed Esthetician, Ms. Sylvia Cancio whose goal was to enable Filipinos who work  in the beauty industry to become at par with those Estheticians in New York, Paris, London, and in other cities in the world where beauty and skin care is a much sought-after career.

The idea of establishing this school originated from an event of Gawad Kalinga in New York, U.S.A. which Ms. Cancio had attended.  She learned that GK had started a livelihood project for skin care products that contain natural produce from the lands tilled by GK villagers.  It was at this point that she thought of helping GK tenants by giving them an education in skin care through a scholarship program.

La Manille Esthetics School was established in January 2011 by Ms. Cancio who worked in tandem withMs. Seven Brown, a Grooming and Beauty Director, a Premier Skin Care Educator in New York, a winner of Excellence in Education Award, and recognized internationally as an ITEC Tutor and Beauty Specialist.

La Manille offers a 300-Hour Certificate course that runs for 3 months - with daily classes being offered in Makati and Cebu (scheduled).  This is the most comprehensive course that covers the basic knowledge an esthetician needs to master.    After the completion of this course, the graduate is ready to go out into  the field that interests her most – be it working in a doctor’s office, entering the world of retail or in the service arena  - in spas and related industries.

ITEC

Once a year, should a student desire to go further in her education,

La Manille also arranges for the students to sit for an exam administered by ITEC or International Therapy Examination Council.  This is an international qualifying board.  Prior to the exam, an advanced class in esthetics is conducted by Ms. Seven Brown, a beauty expert from New York and ITEC accredited tutor.  Upon completion of this 3-week period of study, an exam will be administered by an ITEC representative coming from the UK or Australia.

An ITEC Certificate qualifies a graduate to work in 38 countries worldwide and in international cruise ships.  It is also gives the worker the prestige of being on the same level as her counterparts in the rest of the world.

ITEC examination system sets the highest standards of quality and education in the beauty sector.  ITEC has strong links with employers worldwide who understand the level of knowledge and skills embodied by an ITEC qualified therapist.

It provides over 35 qualifications that are UK government accredited by the Office of the Qualifications and Examination Regulator (OFQUAL).  ITEC qualifications are supported by the industry and are easily transportable nationally and internationally.

In the field of esthetics, ITEC has ensured that the best practices  in the work place are reflected in the syllabus  thus ensuring that the syllabus reflects the required level of knowledge and skill needed for a practicing therapist.
