- This sports a 3RD GENERATION IMAGE STABILIZER. This is handholdable at a shutter speed up to 3 f-stops than a non-stabilized lens at the same focal length like the other canon zoom lens model such as EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III and the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM (Both has no Image Stabilization(IM) function). Zoom lens that has no Image Stabilization (IM) function are prone to unwanted vibration, blurring and unclean/unsharp image even at 100mm. The only remedy for such problem is the use of tripod at all times.

-This can be handheld at 300mm with shutter speed of 1/45 of a second, and can produce a sharp handheld images consistently at 1/4 or 1/5 second shutter speed at 70mm and at 1/25 seconds at 300 mm on full frame body. Highly recommendable for wildlife photography and street photography that do not need tripod.

-It also features a MODE 1 and 2 STABILIZATION. MODE 1(DUAL AXIS STABILIZATION) when shooting stationary subjects, and MODE 2 (SINGLE AXIS STABILIZATION) when panning with moving subject.

*IMAGE STABILIZATION IS THE BEST FEATURE OF THIS LENS that cannot be found from other Canon on Non-Canon zoom lens.
