Air conditioner nowadays is not anymore a luxury but a necessity. Based on recent studies, ambient temperature rises approximately 1^oC every ten (10) years.

Tips to consider before buying your air conditioners.

1. Measure the room area to be cooled.

Area = Length X Width (L X W), units should be in meters.

Lower capacity will not adequately cool the room and continuous running of compressor will result to higher electricity consumption.

Subsequently, higher capacity installed will result to short cycle and quickly OFF  the compressor, hence, not properly remove the humidity inside the room.

2. Choose the highest EER.

High EER air conditioners normally comes  with a higher price. However, high EER means more savings and less power to operate.

EER stands for Energy Efficiency Ratio.

To compute, EER = Cooling Capacity / Power Input

EER is the ratio of the cooling capacity of an air conditioner to the total electrical input under a certain specified test.

To reduce electricity bills, while enjoying  cooling comfort, look for the highest EER in the market.

 Power Saving Tips

Here are some energy saving tips for the use of air conditioners to help reduce power consumption.

1. REGULAR MAINTENANCE

Clean the air filter regularly (at least 2x a month for a bedroom) and have your air conditioner inspected annually. Regular aircon maintenance may extend the life of your equipment and help you to save money by lowering your energy bills. Poorly maintained air conditioners can waste a tremendous amount of energy. A clogged filter will also impair the performance of the unit.

2. Temperature setting

The most economic and desirable setting room temperature is between 23^OC to 25^OC. By adding 1^OC adjustment to your regular setting will reduce power consumption by up to 10%.

3. Using of Electric Fans

Use Electric Fans to help circulate the cooled air more efficiently through your room without greatly increasing your power consumption.

4. Keep all openings closed all the time.

To prevent conditioned air from escaping, keep all windows closed all the time and minimize opening of doors.

5. Direct Sunlight

Do not let direct sunlight into the room. Use sunshades, blinds or curtains. If the wall and ceiling of the room are warmed by the sun, it will take longer to cool the room.

6. Undersized aircon capacity

Do not install an under sized aircon. Ensure that the aircon unit is properly sized for your room. Operating a unit which is either too large or too small is highly inefficient that will result to high energy consumption.

7. Heat Source

Do not place lamps or TV sets near your air conditioning units. The thermostat senses heat from these appliances, which can result to longer operation of the compressor.

8. Replace old Air conditioning units.

Air conditioning units consumes 20%-30% of your total electricity bill. Old air air conditioning units (beyond 5 years of usage) is already less efficient. Choose air conditioners with High EER and with Inverter Technology.
