Derma roller therapy offers amazing results without the inconvenient ‘down time’ that comes with more aggressive Laser treatments and medium and deep Chemical Peels. Due to its notable safety profile, Dermaroller Therapy is suitable for use on darker skins and for use during the summer months when other treatments are more risky due to the increased UV sensitivity they can induce. Skin Needling provides results similar to Laser Resurfacing, Fraxel® and Chemical Peels but at a fraction of the cost and with minimal or zero downtime. The Titanium Dermaroller creates a multitude of tiny puncture wounds to the dermis which induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. Creating dermal damage without removal of the healthy epidermis, as with other resurfacing techniques, means the healing time is rapid and does not cause any comparable pain. Results are quick and will last.

How Does It Work?

As you roll over your skin, it creates pin point punctures into the dermis – the majority of which are simply pushing your pores open temporarily. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. The human body naturally reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process, but usually it will only heal as far as it must to keep you healthy – which is different to healing to a cosmetic level. By persistently triggering the healing process, you encourage your body to continue healing until you are satisfied with the results.  By opening the skin in this way you not only dramatically increase the penetration of any topical product, increasing its efficacy, but you also create miniature perforations that stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms, increasing production of many important factors for a healthy skin.

How fast does the Derma Roller get results?

The speed at which you will get results depends on what you are treating and how extensively your body needs to remodel the affected area. This process of skin remodelling can go on for months after each Derma Roller treatment, but noticeable results can be seen within a week! Your skin naturally renews itself every 40 days, so with a little stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast.

Are there different manufacturers of microneedling devices?

Yes.  But not all products are FDA / EU Standards approved with high quality titanium needles.  We only use FDA approved microneedling devices which are best suited for your skin.

Is skin needling safe and how much redness do you get?

It does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal or no downtime, rapid healing and requires simple aftercare.
Immediately after your Dermaroller Therapy you will look as though you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally recover within the same day.  You may have slight redness the following day or two.
