천연 가죽 (피혁)

Is a durable and flexible material created by the tanning of animal rawhide and skin, often cattle hide. 
It can be produced through manufacturing processes ranging from cottage industry to heavy industry.

   천연가죽은 동물의 가죽을 분리하여 가죽의 표피층과 진피층을 가공처리 한것을 말한다.
털과 함께 가공한 것을 모피라 한다.
   천연가죽은 90%이상 단백질로 구성되어 뛰어난 보습력과 부드럼움 뛰어난 기계적 강도를 지녀
예로부터 고급 의류, 고급구두, 장신구등에 널리 활용 되었다.

인조 가죽

It means fake, false, imitation leather.PVC or PU upholstery leather (PVC Faux Leather) is a high-level PVC product that can be used for furniture, office chairs, hand bags, dining chairs and other purposes.

   인조가죽은 동물의 가죽에서 표피층과 진피층을 분리하고 남은 내피층으로 가공하며 비닐 및 PVC 필름을 접착하여 천연가죽과 흡사하게 만들지만, 보습 및 통기성이 없으며 모양만 가죽처럼 만든 가짜 가죽이다.
   동물의 내피층은 지방이 많아 동물의 사료로 사용되어 왔으나 최근 가죽가격이 폭등하자 일부업자들이 동물의 내피를 사용하여 인조가죽을 천연가죽으로 속여 판매하는 경우도 있다.
   천연가죽과 인조가죽의 내구성은 3배에서 10배이상 차이가 나며, 현물시장에서 원단 가격차이도 3배 이상 차이가 난다.

천연가죽 구분법

White smoke occurs when you burn natural leather, it also smells like burnt hair (protein). 
Black smoke and a foul odor occur if faux leather (PVC) is burned.
You can check the warranty period of the product with the purchase of the leather.
Natural Leather products offer one year or more warranty period and Faux Leather products have no warranty.

   인조가죽은 육안으로는 천연가죽과 구분이 불가능하다. 구분 방법은 불에 태워보면 천연가죽은 흰연기와 머리털 타는 냄새가 나고, 인조가죽은 검은 연기와 함께 유독한 냄새가 난다. 또한 인체 접촉시 끈적거림이 심하다.
   인조가죽은 천연가죽과 달리 쉽게 (통상 6개월에서 3년 이내) 벗겨짐, 갈라짐, 변색등으로 쉽게 손상된다. 반면 천연가죽은 치밀한 단백질 구조로 쉽게 변색, 갈라짐, 벗겨짐이 없으며, 인체 접촉시 끈적거림 현상도 없다.
   가죽제품 구입시 품질보증기간을 문의하는것이 가장 손쉬운 천연가죽 구분법이다. 
일부 시중 판매점에서 판매되는 소파 및 가죽제품은 품질보증기간이 없는 경우가 많은데, 
이는 대부분 인조가죽이기 때문이다.
  천연가죽으로 만든 제품은 최소 1년에서 3년 정도의 품질보증이 가능하며, 소비자들이 관리만 잘하면 수십년 혹은 백년이상 사용할 수 있다.

Caring for Genuine Leather
천연가죽 관리법

The qualities of leather, created by nature and preserved by the tanner, are superior to those of any man-made synthetic material. To maintain the investment and ensure years of comfort, consistent maintenance will increase the life of the furniture for many years.
- Don't use colored shoe polish, it will rub into clothes.
- Some soap can leave behind soap scum or residue. Some treatments darken the leather surface, 
creating greasy spots that will encourage mold and mildew problems;
- Never rub or scrub spots;
- All leather treatments, cleaners or conditioners should be tested in an inconspicuous spot of the seat or furniture in order to make sure that no adverse chemical reactions will occur.

   천연가죽은 인체의 피부와 같기 때문에 피혁 보습제나 클린싱 크림 및 콜드크림등을 3개월에 한번씩 묻어나지 않을 정도로 가볍게 발라 주면 된다.
  가벼운 얼룩은 물기없는 젓은 수건으로 닦아주면 얼룩이 쉽게 제거된다. 묵은 얼룩은 레몬즙으로 쉽게 없앨 수 있다. 마무리는 크림으로 하면 된다.
  [주의] 세무나 누벅 제품은 보습제 및 지방성 크림을 사용할 수 없음. 또한 알콜, 휘발류, 벤젠등 화공약품을 사용하면 가죽표면이 손상될 수 있음.
