Title: Funny Bones
Author: Ma. Aurora L. Sicat

Jokes are more than puns and punches. They also teach lessons in a humorous but sensible way. After all, what we can’t say in censorship we say in riddles.
Are you about to tie the knot? Do you think marriage brings happiness to our lives? May be you should read this book first before you exchange “I do’s.” We’re not trying to scare you but we’re just keeping you humorously informed.
Are you wondering why your boyfriend is a jerk or why men are commitment-phobics? Do you also wonder why women are more into marriage than men are? Or why women spend more time on their looks than their brains? The jokes here try to explain the story behind the men are made from Mars, women are made from Venus.
Do you want to tell people to get lost, that you’re too busy with your computer, and have no time for other things more important than your PC mate? Well here, we’ll help you wise-up on your computer dictionary.
School can be boring so we figured a way to make fun of students and teachers. Nothing personal. We’re just your best authority on Iskool Bukool.
Are you job-hunting or a prisoner-employee? Let us help you get up from the right side of the bed. Read our jokes on office humor during your coffee break.
Kids say the darnest things but kids can be a better source of information and wisdom than adults.
Would you prefer self-medication to consulting a medical doctor? We couldn’t blame you. Read here what patients would rather risk for paying their doctor bills.
Do you want a simple but crazy definition of mental illnesses? You’ll also find them here, but we suggest you don’t take our advice or else you’ll just die of laughter instead of recuperating from your illness. In no way is this book a substitute for professional medical help.
But surely, this book is your vitamins and minerals for the blues you have in life! So enjoy reading Funny Bones! Have a Funny Bones dose!
Laugh Your Heart Out - It’s Good For You!
Laughter is still the Best Medicine. When you laugh your heart out and allow it to spread through your funny bones, you are actually releasing endorphins in your body - which goes right to the most minuscule cell of your body to your bones - and the good news is that endorphins are good for you!
Scientists have found that laughter is a form of internal jogging. Positive outlook and laughter is actually good for our health!
Filipinos rank sixth among the happiest people over the globe. Adults laugh approximately 15 times per day, while children laugh about 400 times a day! Learning to smile and laugh more easily and often could have a profound and positive effect on our health. More than ever, scientific evidence suggests that laughter really is one of the best medicines.
We know that there are two types of stress: good stress and bad stress. Laughter is a form of good stress, or stress in reverse.
Research on stress has shown that bad stress suppresses your immune system. Doctors wanted to find out if a form of good stress, or laughter, would improve the immune system. They studied groups of average adults and found that the immune system got a boost out of laughter.
They found that humor trigger physiological processes. The experimental group showed increases in the good hormones -- such as endorphins and neurotransmitters -- and decreased levels of the stress hormones -- cortisol and adrenaline.
Laughter indeed is one of the body’s safety valves, a counter balance to tension. When we release that tension, the elevated levels of the body’s stress hormones drop back to normal, thereby allowing our immune system to work more efficiently.
Cells, which produce anti-bodies increase in number: T-cells which combat viruses are activated. All this occurs as a direct result of laughter!
In some clinics, laughter is beginning to take the place of anti-depressant drugs and reduces the need for painkillers.
On an interesting note: Faking laughter will also cause the body to respond as though the laughter is real. The physiological changes we discussed that occur with real laughter will also take effect even when we just pretend to laugh.
So it doesn’t really matter if your jokes are corny and you still laugh at them. Being unhappy or very sad on the other hand can seriously damage your health.
With this in mind, we’ve come up with a book for your pleasurable enjoyment. You don’t have to memorize anything to prepare yourself for an exam on humor. You read this book to amuse yourself and nothing more. That’s the great part of it. This is not a shotgun book.
Some readers may find a little enlightenment and sarcastic jokes here written through witty analogies but the point is, in spite of how life can be tough on us, in spite of our warts and all, we always try to see the humor in life. What better way of saying it is by quoting Freddie Aguilar, “Tawanan mo ang iyong problema.” That is a better alternative than having a pessimistic outlook in life.
Rather than injuring your bones, try tickling them instead. Your funny bones are the key to looking at life in a positive light. So don’t worry, be happy!
