CALL CENTER SCHOOL Business
Business Overview
Great Opportunities in the BPO/Call Center Industry
Industry Size and Growth : What started in 2000 as an industry with only 2400 call center professionals had ballooned by 2005 to about 112,000 with revenues exceeding US$1 billion, up from the 2000 revenue of US$24 million. According to industry experts, the call center industry in the country could generate over US$12 billion revenues by 2010. They also anticipate that 600,000 new jobs will be created which will require the need for an annual hiring rate of around 150,000 workers from 2008-2010 and beyond.
What’s Behind This Explosive Industry Phenomenon :
Most Call Center companies in India are being transferred by American companies to the Philippines because of the ff advantages:
Ø Filipino’s accent is more neutral and agreeable compared with Indians. The cost of doing business in India is becoming more expensive, and relocating to the Phil. Is a sound business decision
Ø It is easier for American executives to run a company with Filipino agents because of their familiarity with the American culture.
Ø The customer oriented culture of Filipinos is an advantage
The outsourced business will continue to grow by leaps and bounds, because offshore companies gearing to be more competitive in the face of worldwide economic slowdown will find operating the call centers here will give better economies of scale. A call center agent’s salary in the US is $ 3,000 vs. that of an agent in Manila which is only $ 300.
The English call center requirements of some European countries have
started transferring to the Philippines, with HSBC leading the pack. Canada and
Australia’s Call Center requirements will eventually be serviced from here.
Canada’s giant telecom Telus has been here since 2007.
The Industry Challenge and Resulting Opportunities
Conversational English, Accent neutralization, Assertiveness, Customer Service,
Call Simulation, Multi-tasking etc., the hiring rate for applicants with raw skills
from college or other profession is only 5%. Training increases the hiring rate
by 30- 50%.
3. Considering that the country has only 400,000 college graduates annually, with a
hiring rate of only 5 %, that means only 20,000 fresh graduates are available to
fill the requirement. The rest would have to be sourced from career shifters,
college graduates who needs to be retrained, matured workers desiring to re-enter
the workforce, and those who only reached 2nd year college due to financial
constraints. Even high school graduates with sound English skills foundation
would have to be tapped
4. Educators, schools and training centers will play a crucial role in training the
above in order to cope up with the demand for call center agents.
Call Center/ ESL Training Opportunities for Nurses, health workers, HRM Students, etc. for overseas Work
The Call Center English training is a highly professional level of English Training which is beneficially applicable to those seeking communications fluency in the nursing field, health care, and HRM or taking the IELTS exam
