Unbrick service or PSP Update to: -Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 + 1.50 Kernel Addon + PSX/PSOne Fix + 3.71 Memory Stick Driver (fatmsmod.prx)
-Custom Firmware 4.01 M33-2 + 1.50 Kernel Addon
-Custom Firmware 3.90 M33-3 + 1.50 Kernel Addon V2 + FATMS Patch
Non-working on the PSP-3000 (PSP Brite) and PSP-2000 TA-088v3 (PSP Slim with 4.01 official firmware) and PSP-2000 TA-090
“fatmsmod.prx” from firmware 3.71 is still the recommended memory stick driver of choice. And thanks to Dark_AleX, you can now enable the 3.71 driver under custom firmware 5.00 M33.
Changes in 5.00 M33-6:
- Fixed a bug that made unbootable psp without memory stick or with a bad one.
Changes in 5.00 M33-5:
- A setting has been added to recovery, that, when enabled it may increase memory stick reading speed. (only on the psp, not in the pc). By default it is disabled. If you installed 3.71 fatmsmod, do not use this setting, as its performance with 3.71 driver has not been tested. Instead, reinstall 5.00 m33-4 using dc8 and update to 5.00 m33-5.
5.00 M33-4 changes:
- Speed selected for UMD/ISO was not properly locked in some new games that used scePower_EBD177D6 instead of scePowerSetClockFrequency to change speed.
- UMD/ISO speed settings now apply to PSN games too.
- Fixed libupdown.prx connecting to dark-alex.org instead of Sony when npsignin_plugin checks for a new version and M33 update is enabled.
- ISO file descriptor was not closed in driver deletion.
- Added a shutdown command to vshmenu.
5.00 M33-3 changes:
- A bug was introduced in 5.00 M33-2 that made some games and homebrew not to work.
- PSN version check is now automatically bypassed without need of touching any setting.
5.00 M33-2 changes:
- Popcorn bug fixes:
- Fixed bug that caused some games with certain icons not to work, and caused document.dat not to work.
- Fixed critical bug that caused continuous corruption of psx games in RAM.
- Core bug fix: Fixed sctrlKernelSetInit* functions not working.
- M33 network update doesn’t work in 5.00 M33, fixed.
- Added the possibility of loading version information from the file flash0:/vsh/etc/version.txt. By default is disabled. If you enable it in recovery, you could for example dump 5.01 firmware, copy the version.txt from it to the flash, and bypass firmware check restrictions like those that may be in PSN, etc… This will also fake official network update (not m33 one), and running the update eboot (again, not m33 ones).
- Plugins configuration file format changed. The new format is as follows:
- There is no more conf.bin file.
- Now each line in vsh.txt, game.txt, and pops.txt will have a 0 or a 1 at the end. 1 indicates that the plugin will be loaded, 0 (or anything else) it won’t be loaded. Entering recovery in 5.00 M33-2 will automatically convert the old format configuration to the new one (this may cause a delay first time you enter plugins because of conversion).
- Added options under advanced configuration that allow enable/disable of plugins in a certain configuration. By default they are enabled.
5.00 M33 changes:
- 4.01 to 5.00
- Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reset to 222 again.
4.01 M33-2 changes:
- Nids resolver: Fixed scePowerGetCpuClockFrequency issue. This is the same bug that happened in 3.80 M33-1, it won’t happen again.
- Fixes recovery problems that have appeared in prior version (incorrect position of back string in language others than English, enable, and disabled strings not translated in plugins, hide pic0+pic1 couldn’t be changed, language file in flash1 wasn’t working…)
- Spanish recovery translation typos fixed.
4.01 M33 changes:
- Bug fix: vshmenu didn’t let change camera mode due to camera_plugin using select button. Fixed, now vsh menu will not be loaded when using the camera.
- Recovery can now be translated, See how below. Translation to Spanish is auto included.
- Updated the M33 SDK with a new function and sample, and released the psp-packer tool to compress prx’s and PBP’s in the ~PSP format.
- The folder of 4.01 and higher homebrew will be GAME4XX so it won’t need change on update.
3.90 M33-3 changes:
- March33 noumd driver compatibiilty has increased to support games like Coded Arms, Patapon, Harvest Moon Innocent Life and probably others affected by same errors.
1.50 Kernel Addon v2 changes:
- TA086: when being in 4th brightness level and recovering from sleep mode, the display was black. Fixed.
- Added support in the 1.50 kernel for memory sticks greater than 4 GB. (I finally got my 8GB card!) Before, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel. Now, the theoretical limit is 4GB*512 = 2 Terabytes. (”only” 1 TB, if Sony were using signed variables).
Update: Patch For Loading 3.71 FATMS Driver On 3.80, 3.90 M33 v2
Version 2 changes: fix a bug that prevented access to the music, picture and video folders.
Homebrew developer Dark_AleX has released a patch that allows users to load the original 3.71 fatms driver on 3.80 and 3.90 M33 series firmware, which if installed, will resolve this issue.
Note that while this patch will increase memory stick read speed, the 3.71 fatms driver will require use of more kernel memory.
Following the release of custom firmware 3.80 and 3.90 M33, some users experienced lag when loading compressed files and plugins from the memory stick, an issue that did not exist in previous firmware releases.
It’s sad, but true… (Newer?) Slim models utilizing the TA-088 motherboard render Despertar del Cementerio (DC), Pandora, and Time Machine useless — for the time being…
Custom/unsigned IPLs fail to load from the memory stick; that’s likely a result of the kernel 1.50 & 3.40 mix. With that said, we won’t see a new version of DC — Dark_AleX’s universal unbricker — until the revamped core and interface is finished.
