  Motor liability insurance - Why you need it

  If you use a motor vehicle of any kind you have to have motor liability insurance. This covers both physical injury and damage to property resulting from using a vehicle in traffic conditions.

  The law on motor liability insurance contains a separate section dealing with physical injury and property damage.
  
  Motor liability insurance covers traffic damage even though no one may be personally liable to pay damages due to use of a vehicle in traffic conditions. However, if someone deliberately causes physical injury to themselves, compensation is paid to the extent that other factors have led to the injury. If due to gross negligence someone has contributed to causing physical injury, compensation paid to them may be reduced or denied depending on the circumstances.
  
  Compensation for physical injury covers expenses incurred by hospital treatment, pain, loss of earnings, permanent handicap and injury, rehabilitation and funeral services. Compensation for pain is not given if injuries are minor. The spouse and children of a person killed in a motor accident are entitled to receive a family pension. In the event of physical injury or death compensation covers not only the consequent reduction of income but also the postponement of income.
