MANILA, Philippines—Although rains have stopped in some areas affected by tropical storm Ondoy (international name: Ketsana), 15 roads in Metro Manila still remain impassable due to flood, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Sunday. In Makati City, J. Rizal Street in Guadalupe Viejo is not passable to light vehicles due to flood waters. In Manila City, the stretch of P. Florentino from Maria Clara Street all the way to Blumentritt is also hardly passable to vehicles. In Marikina City, the village of Malanday and parts of the village of Concepcion Dos are also hardly passable to vehicles due to flood waters, the NDCC said. In Malabon City, the streets of Tenejeros, M.H. Del Pilar, Panghulo Road, Catmon to Governor Pascual, and the village of Ampil are not passable to light vehicles due to knee-deep to leg-deep floodwaters. C4-Letre Road is not passable to all types of vehicles. In Quezon City, E. Rodriguez Street corner Araneta Avenue which has knee-deep floods is not passable to light vehicles. In Valenzuela City, M.H. Del Pilar in front of Pio Elementary School-Palasan is under 11 inches of flood waters. In Pasig City, the streets of Velasco, Urbano, Geronimo, and Gahid in the villages of Pinagbuhatan and Manggahan are hardly passable to vehicles, the NDCC said. In its latest weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said that Ondoy was seen 390 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales over the South China Sea packing maximum winds of 105 kph near center and gusts of up to 135 kph. |
