Driving an A/T

ako sa D4 lang,
pero sa ibang friends ko, neutral nila para makatipid sa gas daw.

You keep those in front and behind you in trouble best to stick with D4 parehas lang consumption ng fuel yan kahit N pa, the thing is pag bigla mong pinasok sa D4 yan at speed 40 above, sure na greater damage ang mangyayari. Number 1 killer ng A/T ang downhill at uphill sa honda civic, better to use D3 uphill and downhill

kapag uphill o downhill maganda mag shift sa lowest gear, in my case sa toyota L ng lowest gear kung naka off ang Overdrive tapos D2 para makabwelo ng husto at D sa flat surface...now sa economy walang basehan ang neutral na makakatipid masama pa nga ito kasi lahat ng gear ng a/t umiikot at naistress ang buong transmission at mas prone ito sa overheat which later on could result ng mga atf leaks sa transmission mismo..in the end hindi ka nakatipid..

normal driving lang kapag trafic mas maigi handbreak tapos ilagay lang sa N ang gear para habang nakahinto walang load ang transmission at napapahinga ito..pag nag green na kalabit lang sa D tapos release ng handbreak go go go...

Keep doing that and ill promise you youll ruin your trans
those gears are not to be used like a standard shift lol
its for heavy load on the engine
yes sure some guys put it in neutral to save gas
how much gas do you think your savingin neutral
its as the same as in drive lol

kung traffic ka, at moving a little, dapat na sa first gear or second gear ng selection, kung hinto dapat neutral at kung maluwag nasa Drive mode.

Agreed! It's basic and logical explanation, in going downhill, it's more safier if you don't put your shift into neutral. There are times you need to step on your accelerator especially on curves. So if your going fast on downhill then shift to Drive it will do the same thing like making an engine break which will increase your fuel consumption plus will break your transmission gear. On Uphill to save fuel consumption and not break your transmission gear decrease your step on the accelerator better yet slow down first before shifting to D2 or L.

napaka-delikado po yan, shifting to "N" sa downhill. you'll have a higher chance of loosing control/wheel traction. Ito po sa karamihan ang hindi nakaka-alam patungkol sa matitipid while coasting in "N" position, your engine is fuel-injected(efi) it actually cut off or at least greatly reduce fuel delivery to the engine when driving in-gear while the gas pedal is not being pressed. Even if your RPM's are high when driving downhill it wouldn't require any more gas to leave it in drive. On top of all that, shifting from "N" to "D" while rolling downhill will put your Engine & A/T at great stress because chances are, your throttling won't match the engines RPM's. Pahabol mabilis maka-pudpod at mas-mahina ang effect ng brake kapag nasa "N", lalu na downhill.

one advantage sa paglagay sa N postion kapag downhill sa A/T cars e mabilis kang makakarating sa paroroonan mo which is dalawa lang, sa ospital o sa sementeryo........

ello po mga kasulit! i have an a/t car, honda civic '96. bago lang po ako sa cars, pero i know how to drive na kasi matic naman. one time, hiniram ng cousin ko ang car. kapag asa downhill, nililipat nya sa neutral. tapos ang hilig nyang magshift D4 to D3 vice versa. ako po, normal driving D4 lang. ano po ba ang tama? thanks po!

OT: ako din pre, tapos parang lumiit din ang message box. pero just like anything new, masasanay din tayo dito....

ako D lang madalas gamit ko, kung downhill reduce na D2 depende kung mahaba yung downhill na yan, at uphill naman like going to baguio D2 din. Kung N ka downhill not advisable papuntang hell ang dulo nyan, kulang sa safety kung ganyan nang dahil lang sa gustong makatipid ng gas, kakarampot lang naman ang matitipid nya negligible. Sa traffic P na para makahinga naman,.

shifting from D4 to D3/D2/D1 in a stiff downhill will be just fine,but not neutral ok. yes it will deliver much stress sa trammy and more gas consumption..but think safety first! yan ang purpose ng low gear ng auto trammy,use low gears in stiff uphill and downhill.. again safety first for me
