Agreed! It's basic and logical explanation, in going downhill, it's more safier if you don't put your shift into neutral. There are times you need to step on your accelerator especially on curves. So if your going fast on downhill then shift to
Drive it will do the same thing like making an engine break which will increase your fuel consumption plus will break your transmission gear. On Uphill to save fuel consumption and not break your transmission gear decrease your step on the accelerator better yet slow down first before shifting to D2 or L.
