im from south africa, im a white male (not black as most ppl think im black cause im from south africa) and my wife a filipina and i have our own tilapia farm in pamapanga, its a great business to get into, and can be done buy most people, with a small start up cost and high earning just after 4 months,(depending on space you have to use)

actually, that kind of business is great! kung start pa lang or new timer with this kind of business, dapat maliit muna ang pond para mabantayan ng maiagi. minsan kasi namamatay agad ang mga fingerlings kung hindi nalinis ng maayos ang pond. experienced namin dati may maglagay ng african heto kaya kunti nalang natira kasi kinain ang mga fingerlings. but nice try! after what happened, naging cautious na rin kami.

we using fish ponds, we bought the land so our start up cost was high, plus we can harvest evry 4 months about 40,000kg of tilapia @62 a kilo, and all we spend in for months is about 30% of that end sum

So the high cost's brought first by the area/land. But the ROI is consistent because you said, you are able to harvest every 4 months. Cool!

it is a very tasty fish i do like to eat it but i try not to, if you had to start small like say a 500 gal small swiming pool in your back yard, small under water pump just to creat air, you could keep in that space 264 tilpia to grow to about 250g each so at the end when you sell youl get 62 per kilo so at the end of 4 months youll make almost 5000 extra and your feeds youll just spend about 750-1000 in 4 months of raising them. you can suplement the feeds with old bread old dried vegetables or duckweed wich is very high in protein and can prob get that for free

wow, nice information. I remembered, my relative. She started up this kind of business, but it was ruined due to the unexpected typhoon. The land area was ruined. Even the fishes were died.

Maganda venture iyan, maganda ang kita mo kung may 1 hectare kang lupa at matataba sila dahil alaga sa feeds, 1 hectare ba ang sa iyo? Definitely attend ka ng seminar tungkol dito ituturo lahat dun (mga mortality rate ng tilapia and mga feeds na gagamitin mo), and of course sino ang babagsakan mo ng tilapia.

It's not time consuming kung may tao kang magbabantay dun dahil 3 months mong papalakhin iyan.

Btw may part din na kailangan palitan mo ang tubig (flushing), dagdagan mo na ring ng sugpo mas malaki ang kita dun (AFAIK think 75k per cooler).

May ganyan ang business ang relative ko tabi lang sa farm ko.

BTW eto ang pics ng farm ko bet. the fish farm ng relative ko (yung land part sa amin then yung may tubig sa relative ko na may biz na tilapia)

Alam nyo ba na pwede kayong mag alaga ng tilapia sa drum? Para lang kayong nag aalaga ng gold fish pero after 3-4 mos. may pang-ulam na kayo sigurado pa kayong malinis kasi kayo ang nag-alaga
