Dangerous, yes. But as people seeks cheaper means of transportation and the convenience of riding a motorcycle, it becomes a necessity in which people overlook it`s consequences. lalo na kapag walang protective gears na suot ang rider.

There are many ways to prevent accidents, one would be to implement stricter laws against drunk driving, another would be motorcycle lanes so as to lessen if not eliminate filtering, stricter guidelines and tests(written/actual) for procurement of a driver's license to make sure that everyone really knows how to drive/ride and the current traffic regulations, plus many more! It is true that discipline starts with one's self. But as observed in many countries, discipline must be instilled and exerted by a governing body, as we all have a devil inside of us that sometimes needs taming even if we are all literate and educated.

Good day Sulitizen. I agree with the others, it is more riskier to ride on the motorcycle. I have friends in the US and here in the Philippines that all have a record of an accident riding the motorcycle, they themselves are the one who told me that it is risky, and they advised me not to get one, because accident will happen and no matter how good you are to drive the motorcycle and even wearing safety gears, you will still going to get an accident. I am a Licensed Embalmer, and just last year alone ; we have 5 cases of motorcycle accident, 2 of them have a safety helmet, most of them died of the head injuries. One of them is a motorcycle mechanic and he tried to test the motorcycle he repaired, according to the witness :when he is about done testing the motor bike and ready to go back home, when he tried to put up a brake because a tricycle is about to hit him, the brake failed and he slam in the steel post and rolled and his head hit the sidewalk pavement, it took him 3 weeks , 2 surgery in his head, and a cost of about PHP 1.5 Million pesos hospitalization before he died. My nephew he got a motorcycle and I keep telling him it is too risky to ride on one of those, its up to him and he is old enough to listen to me or take the risk and I told him that I will not help him to defray his medical expenses in case he got injured in a motor bike accident. Take care, be safe, and God forbids an accident. View message logs DayaoFuneralHome: updated on March 16, 2011 12:10AM DayaoFuneralHome: updated on March 16, 2011 12:08AM

any vehicle is an accident prone vehicle. What differs from the other is their safety and accident protection capability. A car doing 60kms/hr hitting a concrete barrier would most likely to survive than a motorcycle doing 60 hitting the same concrete barrier. There are more risk in a two wheeled vehicle than in four.

hiveofangel Sulitizen-to-be 22 posts | When I tell people that I ride motorcycles, many of them if not most will ask me, "isn't it dangerous?". I can't blame them, we hear it from the radio, watch it on the news and read it from the papers, everyday there is an accident involving a motorcycle. Why wouldn't it be dangerous, we have to balance on two wheels which has a contact patch of no more than 2 inches, there are no side impact beams or airbags or seatbelts to protect us and we ride in an environment that is not really suitable for riding. But why do it anyway, most would say because it is more economical (minus the hospital bills of course), because it gets you from point A to point B faster (especially if you deliver fast food), and most of the time it is because we just simply love to ride. Now if you will observe closely, the motorcycle accidents we hear everyday are mostly alcohol related, every night I see bikes without taillights some even without headlights and just rely on street lamps to light their path, even with all the police checkpoints and traffic enforcers I see a lot of people without helmets, I see bikes filtering thru traffic even at speeds of over 60kph, and I can go on and on about these violations but this space will not be enough. My question remains the same, is motorcycle riding dangerous or is it the rider who tempts Death himself? Pretty much the same with guns huh? It is only as lethal as the gun owner would like it to be. Think about it. Rubbersidedown!!! I agree, it is dangerous although every aspect in life has its own danger, even while asleep is dangerous you might not wake up one day. :D Honestly, everythink in life has it's own advantage and disadvantage - that is on my own point of view off course. But what I want to emphasize is that no matter what your ride is, it is on who ride's it !!! ;) Thanks, Chris View message logs hiveofangel: updated on March 17, 2011 04:48AM hiveofangel: updated on March 17, 2011 04:47AM hiveofangel: updated on March 17, 2011 04:46AM |
