Introducing New Feature: Active Sellers Get Higher Search Results Ranking Philippines

One of the goals of Sulit.com.ph is to provide a good experience to our buyers while using Sulit.com.ph.  If the buyers are getting a good experience when visiting Sulit.com.ph, they will tend to patronize Sulit.com.ph more which in turn will be a huge benefit to all our sellers.

To provide a good experience, we are doing our best to provide quality search results whenever buyers are searching for anything here in Sulit.com.ph.  We are previously doing this by providing the "most relevant" advertisements for the "search keywords" of the buyer.  So if the buyer was searching for "iphone 4" our system was returning the most relevant iPhone 4 advertisements first to the buyer.

Our search engine was doing great that Sulit.com.ph search results were very high quality that blows the competition.  But even it was doing great (a lot better than the competition), it still had its flaws.  Sometimes, the first advertisements returned were ads of a non-active member or member who last signed in more than 30 days ago.  This commonly resulted for buyers contacting non-active sellers who were no longer responding about their posted advertisement.  And this could give a bad experience to our buyers.

So even our search engine was already doing a lot better than our competitors, we have made a lot of effort to make it even better.  Starting today, advertisements posted by active sellers (members) will get higher search results ranking.  This means that sellers (members) who signed in today will get additional weight in our search ranking as compared to sellers (member) who signed in a week ago.  Therefore, our search engine will use both relevancy of the advertisement and the activity of the seller as factors when ranking our ads in our search results.

For the seller, it means that active sellers (i.e. who signed in regularly to Sulit.com.ph) will get higher search ranking for their ads.

For the buyer, it means that you can get higher quality results when searching in Sulit.com.ph.

We believe that this change can provide exceptional benefit to all users of Sulit.com.ph.

A: Premium listing will still have higher weight than the new weight for active sellers

Q: How often should you sign in to Sulit.com.ph?
A: The ideal scenario for a seller is to sign in once daily.  This will give the best exposure and search ranking for your ads.  Remember, ads of sellers who signed in yesterday have higher ranking than ads of sellers who signed in a week ago.

Q: How about the other ranking factors like thumbnail image, price, PRC number, map, etc.?
A: These ranking factors are still working.  This new ranking factor is added to further improve the quality of our search results.

Q: You signed in today but your ads are not ranking higher than a seller who signed in yesterday.  Why?
A: (1) There are other ranking factors and your activity is only one of them.  There can be other ranking factors that work in favor of the ads of the other seller.  (2) Ranking factors are being applied globally on a daily basis unless you updated your advertisement recently.  So if you signed in now and you did not update any of your advertisements, your gain for the ranking factor will be added the next day.
