In its impeachment complaint forwarded to the Senate, the House of Representatives accused Corona of betraying public trust and of involvement in corruption “when he failed and refused to account for the JDF and Special Allowance for the Judiciary (SAJ) collections.”

But a COA report says otherwise...

COA: No fund mess in SC audit
By Michael Punongbayan (The Philippine Star) Updated January 11, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (1) View comments

MANILA, Philippines - Despite accusations of graft against its chief, the Supreme Court (SC) had no serious fund irregularities in 2010, according to a Commission on Audit (COA) report released yesterday.

Except for some accounting errors like misstatements of balances, unliquidated cash advances, uncollected fees, as well as recording and classification errors, there was nothing in the COA report that would indicate fund misuse in the Supreme Court, much less one involving Chief Justice Renato Corona who is set to face a Senate impeachment court on Jan. 16 for a host of charges including corruption.

State auditors even took note of how the Judiciary Development Fund (JDF) last year had greatly benefited the country’s justices and judges, and court personnel.

That's a very dangerous scenario for a not-so-knowing president who has a penchant of interpreting the law to his liking.

I say, Corona should fight it out para magkaalaman kung sino ang nagsasabi ng katotohanan. The Senate should assert its independence and not kowtow to Noynoy's whims. As a newly-elected ICC Justice, her decision will be scrutinized not just locally but internationally, as well.

I have posted a comment about this on the previous page. Check it out...

Hehehe...

Considering that Tonyboy Cojuanco alone donated 100 million pesos to Noynoy's campaign fund, it's a foregone conclusion that they are the ones pulling the strings of Noynoy.

To balance the equation, the PCIJ came up with this report. Maraming nagmamalinis pero marumi din naman pala. That characterizes the man on top who is the most righteous pretender of all...

Impeachment backers keep SALN secrets too
The Philippine Star Updated January 11, 2012 10:11 AM 134 comments to this post

MANILA, Philippines – Most of the 188 House members who signed the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Renato Corona have refused to disclose their statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN) too, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism reported today.

This amid persistent calls of the prosecution panel that Corona must be impeached for refusing to disclose his SALN, noting it as one of the eight articles of impeachment.

In an article, PCIJ Executive Director Malou Mangahas said House accusers could well be accused of a similar omission, and culpable violation of the Constitution and anti-graft laws.

isa sa mga complaint.

Midnight appointments violate Section 15, Article VII o Constitution.

In Arturo de Castro v. Judicial and Bar Council and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, et al., "the Supreme Court held that the prohibition does not apply to the Supreme Court but only to executive department and other courts lower than Supreme Court."

Paanong naging right thing to do yun kung tama siya at walang nagawang kasalanan? Because Noynoy said so?

Teddy Casiño has already met with Justice Antonio Carpio for the "Plan B" should Corona gets acquittal.

Poor Philippines...

I'm not favor that CJ Corona be ousted or impeached. it is obvious that this is a Political Conflict and people have their respective hidden or vested interest. People involved wants to shine by using this issue. Why they cant priorities the economic problem of the land? Why PNOY is present and face the roots of the problem? He should not hide and appoint persons to be his spokes persons and in the end its gone and quiet..I hope this impeachment trial will give a transparent and fair judgement and will not put our country in a mess situation and leave a bad impression to other countries and mark a bad history of all times for the Philippine Constitution. Good luck ladies and gentlemen.:)

MANILA, Philippines—The prosecution team’s lack of preparation to present its first evidence against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona prompted the postponement of the impeachment trial in the Senate on Tuesday.

“The prosecution is not prepared to present evidence today, the court moto propio postpones the trial until tomorrow afternoon at 2:00,” said Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile, who presided over the trial.
