IANSANCHO Sulitizen 66 posts | There's nothing wrong with making him a hero. He is a hero, because he inspires people. He is helping us to build a name for aour country. And from a simple boxer, he turned into a patriot. I don't see anything that he have done wrong to be deprived of that.
Although at times, I am wishing he can lose. Lose atleast once. Because losing once in a while is a healthy for a champ. Hey, Rocky Balboa(although that he is only a fictitious character) lost fights too... and he graciously rose up to prove that he is still a champion.
And losing keeps a person on their toes. |

| Well you could say a modern day hero or a pop star in the sense that he is a famous personality. I'm sure none of you would make any sense of his rather provincial or working mans appearance hadn't he made millions of dollars clobbering scores of international boxing superstars. JR and MP belong to different times and different values where during JR's time, intellect & pedigree was a pre-requisite for gaining power and influence. Whereas today, showmanship and immense generosity is what is required. Do you think the standards have been lowered? I don't mean to imply that MP is dumb as a brick. No. In fact, he has shown a remarkable degree of self-perseverance to augment his intellectual capacity as much as he challenges himself physically. That is an admirable trait. I don't mean to deride a fellow Mindanaoan. I believe his heart is always in the best intentions. His lack of a father figure or rather an absent fathe is an immense psychological motivation for him which has driven him to do everything he possibly can. From a boxer, to a social worker, to a philantropist, to a show host, to a public servant and lastly his venture into the world as a born again Christian. And I guess in the latter he means to be a minister and maybe build his own church. His immense pride of being a Filipino is also very commendible. But I'm sure it is only emotionally driven in him for the mere fact that his very honorable victories in the ring has been lauded by many a politicians eager to get their mugs in the same photo ops as he so as to bring credibility or more exporuse to themselves. Hero you say? Yep. He is a hero. In his own degree. A national hero? Well we let the American choose Jose Rizal as our national hero because they didn't want us to hail the warrior Andres Bonifacio for fear of making the Filipinos proud of a warrior and eager to follow in his footsteps. They chose for us the pacifist Jose Rizal instead. So.....why not do as before. Let the foreigners tell us who is our hero. |

IANSANCHO Sulitizen 66 posts | bakit anu bang nagawa nya sunod sunod lang nman ang pagkapanalo ny apaano nalang kung natalo sya sunod sunod din heroe paba yan I wont be talking about MP anymore. However failure doesn't affect and shouldn't affect the quality of a person. It should help him improve more. Sabi ko nga sa last post ko dito, mas gusto ko sya makita matalo kahit isang beses lang... or kahit pa masundan... para manatiling nakaapak sa lupa ang ego nya... But if the question is ano bang nagawa nya?! Hmmmnnn... Good question... as a Filipino, how do you see his sucess in this sport? OO nung una, pansarili lang naman talaga ang laban nya eh. But when he saw that the Filipino people is also supporting him, the next few fights that he had are fought for our country. He is a patriot, and every patriot is considered a hero. |
