I found this video years ago, and I credit a lot of my knowledge to
the author's free information and his paid programs to my success
in handling a lot of objections in MLM.

This particular video blows away a lot of incorrect yet possibly
damaging negative statements about MLM.

You can watch it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J--z59kvTKA

For those who don't want to watch 9 minutes (it's short), here's
a brief summary:

How do you determine if information is valuable or not?

1. Not all authors (those who speak or write about a subject,
which also includes those who give advice) are equal.

2. A lot of ways to determine validity are goofy or ridiculous,
we can't base our information with these ways:

   - if information is balanced --> if the author is certain, then
     it is not correct?

(my comment: a lot of people want to stay balanced in a
subject, which is very plausible. The news and media can
use this stance because they don't have any authority in
most subjects, that is, if they state their opinions, it would
    be wrong to believe.)

  - if the author or website looks professional --> looking professional
actually leads to a whole lot of people who make deceptions.

3. The correct way is to determine if a statement is
    a. a belief
    b. Provable fact

A misleading statement:

"your odds of making big money in network marketing are lower than winning at gambling in Las Vegas"

The highest odds in Vegas is slightly under 50/50.
It is correct that a lot of people failed in MLM.

But what is MISLEADING is your success in MLM is
not based on odds like gambling, but based on your
   performance.

AND no business venture will give you the same odds
   of success.

3 types of authors of content, both written on spoken:
a. Those who have never done it.
b. Those who have done it but failed
c. Those who have done it and became successful

a. Never done it

They almost always miss the subject.

Example:

"MLM success is mathematically impossible"

(my comment: I made my near first million in my first
MLM company in just 10 months, that statement argued
that you have to be one of the 1st people to join to earn.
yet i was nearly that half-millionth member. LOL)

Just look:

At the time of the video: MLM is about US$109 Billion, and
the oldest MLM (A-m-w-ay) was still growing, and there
are thousands who are earning millions of dollars in MLM.

b. Failed at it

It is common for people who failed at any subject to be
==very== critical about the subject and those who do it.

When someone is critical, they are inclined to find fault in it.

Here's why: something about the subject is a mystery to them
and they feel INADEQUATE.

They can't figure it out and quit before finding out what it is
that is a mystery to them.

Someone who succeeds at the subject proves his inadequacy.

(My comment: very true, a lot of people are selfish.)

On EVERY Subject, there are more people who quit at it than
those who succeed at it.

c. Succeeded at what they write/talk about

They know what is IMPORTANT, and what is not important about
a subject.

There is a VAST difference between someone who is successful
at a subject, and someone who is educated about a subject.

He gave a lot of examples which all mean:

Even if someone studied the subject for 20 or more years, doesn't
mean he/she can make someone successful at a subject.

If you want to succeed, take the advice of those who have been
succesful.

IN CONCLUSION:

The easiest advice to give about a subject is don't do it.

However, the most amount of money you'll ever lose
is the amount you'll never make.

(My comment: for 2 years from 2003, I never joined MLM
because of what I've read in the internet about the negativities
of MLM. Tuwing may mag-alok, sasabihin ko scam yan, at
marami pa akong taong dinidiscourage magjoin, as in super nega.

Pero nung nagjoin ako, "Sinayang ko 2 years sa pag-bibusiness
na nalugi (time and money lost) eh kung nag MLM na lang ako,
kahit pa hindi ako kumita nung two years na yun eh at least
hindi naman ako nawalan ng malaking halaga [na inutang ko
lang din])

:)

This video was very helpful to me.

Nice post Marlo. Yes, totoo yan, and aside from books, there are also authors on the Internet who published information like that for the general public to read. Tingin ko, KSP lang mga yun, "Kulang Sa Pansin." Gusto nila ma-provoke yung mga readers na mga network marketers so they can hold their attention thereby resulting to more traffic to their pages. Ganun naman ang karamihan sa mga authors e, KSP.
