Like the hardware specs, a gadget's name serves the purpose of identifying a certain device as well as making it stand out from the rest of the pack. Needless to say, it's one important part of the whole package. This is why them shady makers of fake gizmos come up (or at least they try to) with creations that look and "sound" genuine, if you know what we mean. Proof? Check out the gallery below for 10 fake gadgets name that we bet could fool the unsuspecting few. Think of this as a reminder that it's sometimes nice to look at least twice.

1.) Sony VAIC

We give props to the one who came up with this one. Replacing the O with a C. Such a small but clever move that can make a fool out of those who won't look hard enough. As for the device, it's a copy of Sony's VAIO TT, although its specs are far from those found on the real thing.

2.) PCP

It looks a bit like the PlayStation Portable, no? It's name (the first part at least) is one letter away from the PSP tag we've grown accustomed to. As for gaming capabilities, we won't be surprised if it doesn't even have half the visual capabilities of Sony's popular gaming handheld.

3.) Wü Fit

We say the addition of ü in place of ii is a very nice touch. Other than that, we'll have to say pass tothis one. We just don't know if it can handle the same physical strains the real thing is supposed to withstand.

4.) PenesamiG

More than a couple of letters off from Panasonic but, taken as a whole together with the packaging, this one still manages to do the trick.

5.) Game Joy

The so-called Game Joy looks like the love child of a Family Computer controller and the Game Boy Advance. We wonder if it can play any decent games...

6.) WiWi

This one made us think of the comfort room for obvious reason.

7.) iPed

Ah, the iPed. We spotted this one almost two years ago and we still remember chuckling when we first saw it. This obvious iPad clone runs on Android and, last time we checked, it's retailing in the mid P4,000 range. Are you up for it?

8.) Polystation

From the name to the images on the retail box, this one is obviously a rip-off of the Sony PlayStation(specifically the PSOne). It also reminds us of a police station. Police station, get it?

9.) SQNY

This time around, it's not just one gadget label but a whole brand name that's being copied! The nerve!

10.) Nokla

Yep, the Finns are not immune and actually has a company that's copying its name and products. For example that image shows a couple of N95s, but the one on the left side is a NokLa (emphasis on the second to the last letter) N95. We think we've already seen a few more Nokla handsets over at Greenhills.
