tanod with permit to carry fire arms

I just saw a news from abs cbn where there were 3 tanods that got arrested because they were carrying firearms without license. I was wondering if I can be a volunteer barangay tanod just to help out people and also because I want to know the feeling of catching criminals.

I have a licensed gun with permit to carry outside residence and I want to use it for something  productive liked catching bad guys but I dont want it to be a career like being a cop, I just want to help out since I already paid for my PTC and I want to make it usefull for me and people around me. 

Just curious about youre comments about my Idea if I'm going to do it or not. feedback will be really appreciated
