I think it really depends on what you need/want, any transmission is ok as long as the vehicle is well maintained. However, if an automatic tranny is busted, it will cost you more to have it fixed or replaced.

Pero in terms of driving comfort, d best talaga Matic lalo na pag traffic.

As for its price... i think these are some reasons kung bakit mas mahal ang mga brand new...
Old cars are mechanical and when i say mechanical i mean hardly any electronics in them such as carburators and electronic points in the distributor in the 2000 cars they have throtle bodys and fuel injectors instead of carbs and coil packs instead of distributors plus they have alot of electronic sensors that are controlled by a cpu where the older cars did not have a cpu and was mechanical so pretty much all they change was how fuel was delivered and ignited that just puting in small terms

if you are concern about control, go to manual where you have the total control over your car. you can choose which band of power you want before you change your gear, you can run aggressively or run like a family man. easy to maintain, you can push start it if you stall on the road.. safer than automatic.

maintenance standpoint... choose manual. maraming marunong tumingin at hindi magastos as compared to repairs ng automatic transmission which usually ends up with complete replacement.
